Hi folks, we have an update regarding the ESO+ Discount through Steam. We have updated this blog to indicate that the sale price for ESO Plus membership on Steam is only available for first-time ESO Plus users. So specifically, Steam players who have never had ESO Plus membership can access the sale at this time. We will have other promotions in the future and are taking your feedback to our teams for a better process in the future for a promotion like this. We apologize for the confusion.

Kevin, this has crossed the line into an illegal bait-and-switch.
People were advertised the discounted price, and were able to checkout with the discounted price, only to be charged the full price after the fact with ZOS refusing refunds. This is legally actionable fraud.

If you live in Australia I think the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) would be very interested in this. They don't take kindly to things like this.

    ZOS I'm disappointed.

Hey Kevin, I am sorry that you have to deal with this, but we need an answer for when the people charged full price will recieve a refund. It is highly illegal what your company has done here and I don't want to have to contact the ECC for this. ZOS support sends us to Steam and Steam support sends us to ZOS. This whole situation is a dumpster fire.lbc4ys7qisuz.png

That seems a bit overreacting to me.
    Because of $7.50 or €6.50?
That's all the money you would have saved.

Perhaps they should have deducted half of a monthly fee for each subscription period and extended the period for existing subscriptions by 15 or 30 days.

I dunno, I don't think it's the money. I think it might be the principle that they may have committed fraud, pending legal review.
Maythor: honestly we're getting the supermarket treatment here ... shrinkflation with the addition of simply moving things about so they seem fresher .. all the while being told a corporation is our friend :P

It is the principle. I finaly managed to get it refunded through Steam support. I've also refunded my Content Pass pre-order, I think that's enough ESO for me for a while

I ended up just using the Bethesda store deal, with Steam you can use either or. I liked keeping track of it through Steam, but I assume it is pretty similar and you can just cancel early on the account page and it will just give you the month duration and not recharge you next month?

Let’s say you purchase a widget for $5 AUD. The manufacturer advertises it clearly at that price. But when the charge posts to your account, it’s $10 AUD. Is the problem the amount, or is it that you were misled and charged more than advertised?

This isn’t about losing $7.50. It’s about being told one thing and billed another. That’s the textbook definition of deceptive pricing. The fact that the dollar amount is relatively small doesn’t make it any less a breach of trust. When companies mishandle communication and then point fingers between platforms instead of offering a straightforward remedy, customers are right to be upset and to escalate.

ZOS taking the tried and true "Have a pint at the Winchester and wait for all this to blow over" method of dealing with this.

For anyone saying 7.50 USD is a small amount to be upset over, the reverse is also true. ZOS is so desperately clinging on to the same 7.50 from a few hundred/thousand people. It's such pathetic conduct, and truly makes me feel like part of the #ESOFAM

I guess the sale isn't until the end of day April 24. Probably for the best that I missed it. I have plenty of single player games to work on.
