Thread lock

Sllocsredle
Was wondering when we cannot write a reply in a thread, does the thread get locked up after a couple months or when ZOS decides to lock a thread? Is this because of too much memory from user posts?

Sometimes threads get locked because the discussion's gone off the rails. Old threads get locked because they may be out of date and shouldn't be bumped because it may be misleading.

Or old threads SHOULD be left open to address how something still hasn't been fixed after years of forum discussion.

Yes, they should, but then it would be obvious that there are issues that have not been fixed for a very long time that still exist today.

Whenever a Mod locks a necroed thread it's always made clear that you can start a new thread on it. Just post a new thread with reference in the title to it being an old unresolved issue and provide a link in the opening post to the old thread with a current explanation or update.
