THIEVERY!

I love the fact that thievery is in the game, but I have some suggestions to make it a more decent experience for folks!

For starters, what I am going to call "Ambient Items" (or the items that spawn at vendor stalls and the like). I love that you can pick these up, but I would love it even more if they had a small chance of being a Green/Blue/Purple item with a random trait or upgrade, and I would like it even more if they had the possibility of being a zone-based set piece! Imagine that you're just doin' your usual looting and suddenly BAM, you get a decent piece of zone gear! It rolled blue, but a quick upgrade of that after laundering it would make it a nice bit of kit!

Secondly: Guards!

Guards are obviously a hold-over from a time long ago when the faction war was at its height. Now, they only really function to keep thieves at bay, but the issue with that is that they have FAR too much health! Wouldn't it be great if you could, you know, actually defeat them (in a reasonable amount of time?)? I recommend changing their HP down to a decent Solo Boss HP level, and give you a, let's say, 1,000 Gold bounty per guard you kill along with a possibly decent gear drop? This would make it a struggle to take on multiple guards at once, since they're still pretty beefy, but it would also give you a reason to slay them if you want to see what they drop (or you want to build up your bounty for whatever reason).

Simple changes that provide a better experience for thievery, I think!

Oh, a return of the 'let's kill the guards' thread ! Although it's a better one than the last I seen.

Killing guards for 'fun', sure, but really I don't see a need for it - nor a need for them not being killable, I must precise.

Sure, if you build something around killing guards, why not - but you already have world boss and stuff for the killing thing in ESO.

Also, is there really that much people that are in dire need of more sources for zone gear ?

( As for the first suggestion, sure why not, it would just be containers but without a container ).

I love the idea of the casually looted items having a chance to be decent stuff!

    and.....

I also think unkillable guards are the only thing that keep town from being an endless murder-fest.

To be clear, this is a suggestion that would be simple to implement and provide a bit more incentive to pick up random pieces of loot on the ground.

As for killing the guards, there's a reason I suggested they still have a good chunk of health to them akin to a solo boss in vMA or something, that way you don't have constant guard murder happening. There isn't much incentive, just opportunity to do so without having to cut through 10 million HP, lol

Guards have infinite health. you can not kill a guard.

I saw a mini-version of this once at Hew's Bane!
around a dozen players got the guard aggro enough to insta-kill them all

I wasn't even AWARE of this, that's silly! Thank you for the link, but yes, I think you should be able to (eventually) kill a guard after a good bit of fighting, maybe even make the bounty system work against you some more by making guards more difficult as your bounty increases?

Either way, just looking for ways to improve on the systems we currently have!

AFAIK guards used to be mortal but really really tough and the absolute gigaspam of players ganging up to murder them caused everyone's framerate to go on holiday when they were just trying to do their town stuff.

Ahhh, that makes sense, and is more understandable. Still, I would like to see some better interactions with them, and definitely with the ambient loot.
