This has been a thing I've noticed for years and its started to bug me enough to finally ask about it. Maybe its just me, maybe not. Here are a couple scenarios that people from all aspects of the game can hopefully relate to.
In Cyrodiil when you are repairing a gate that was downed the targeting system will prioritize corpses > living friendlies > gate. Meaning if there is a dead player nearby you have to spend a silly amount of time finding the right angle to target the MASSIVE GATE in front of you instead of their corpse. Similarly friendly players will often block the targeting of the gate even if your reticle is places directly on the gate, a somewhat nearby friendly will take your target hostage preventing you from repairing it.
You are in open world, a dungeon or similar and you see a friendly player, you don't have floating nameplates turned on but you want to see what their name is. There is a corpse relatively close by, it is IMPOSSIBLE to target this player even if you place the reticle directly on them. Its like the game is forcing you to target the corpse.
Is this just a me thing or a setting or just a game issue? I can provide screenshots and/or video if needed
