Not gaining companion guild levels when doing the daily quests

Bloodgetter1223
Hello :) I've been levelling Isobel's Fighters guild and Mages guild but they are stuck at 4 and 6 and I am not gaining levels when handing in the dailies even though Isobel companion is out all the time from accepting to handing in the quests. Sometimes I've gained a level but yesterday I did both and gained no levels and even though I've always done both the mages and fighters guilds the mages is somehow 6 when fighters is only rank 4. I also noticed when levelling Sharp that they became lopsided and some days I would miss a rank up even though Sharp was active.

I play on PC EU with a Steam linked account

Not sure if this is in anyway relevant but I play using controller

So today I did again the Mages and Fighters guild daily quests but again I didn't gain any rank in both for Isobel

It's been a while since I leveled Bastian and Mirri, so I don't remember the details, but-- are they supposed to gain an entire level each time, or are they merely supposed to gain a certain number of points toward the next level? For example, when I look at Bastian, it says he's at level 10 in Fighters Guild, which is the max, and if I point my mouse at the Fighters Guild level bar it says 100/100, so it took 100 points to go from level 9 to level 10.

I don't think it works like that from my understanding. I believe that each day you do a daily you should gain one whole level. The above screenshot is from just today and even though I've done yesterday and today I've earned no part exp to the next level. From what I've read the way it is intended to work is you do a daily for either the Fighters or Mages or Undaunted and you gain 1 level

They should gain one level for the first daily you do each day. If you hand in more than one daily to the same guild in a day, that won't result in level gains.

Is it possible that you play around the time of the daily reset and are sometimes handing in the quests twice in one game day (for example, if I were to hand in the quests just after 5am EST one day, and just before 5am EST the next day on PSNA, the second day's turn in wouldn't give any levels)?

I did them yesterday around when servers came back up after maintenance (around 2 pm UTC) and then again today around 9 am UTC and neither time did I gain a level on any of them.

And before that I hadn't done any for some time while the White stakes event was on

Day 3 of doing both the dailies and the same no levels on both guilds for Isobel. I understand that the couple of people that have replied are trying to be helpful but this is a bug in the game and not mine the players error. I have just completed the fighters and mages after daily reset.

I'm clutching at straws here. But so far I've always accepted and handed in the quests in Elden root so tomorrow if I can I'll go to Wayrest Fighters and mages and do them from there.

Don't think I've used Elden Root - pretty much exclusively Mournhold, and not noticed any problems there. I'll try Elden tonight to see what happens.

Today I've gained 1 level in each from doing the Fighter's guild and Mage's daily quests!

I did the dailies from Wayrest instead of Elden root. So possibly Elden root is bugged? @LootAllTheStuff did you have chance to test Elden root?

The only other thing I've done different today is to change Isobel's outfit to her base gear but I doubt that's been the issue

I've leveled all of my companions using elden root almost exclusively, so I don't think it's generally bugged. You might be in some weird corner case though.

Last night I did fighter's and mage's dailies from Elden Root with Isobel. I gained 1 level for mage's but not for fighter's. I'll try it again today. The only thing I know of that's different is that I used one of those companion experience boost scrolls from the fighter's guild on Isobel, so she started at a slightly higher level in that compared to the mage's skill.

ETA: Today both levelled up as expected. Seems like there is indeed some weird edge case bug that can prevent this from happening?

@LootAllTheStuff good to know its not just me :) I had the odd missed level when I was levelling Sharp's guild lines from Elden but when I returned to levelling Isobel's guilds I went the 3 days without a single rank up.

Edit: I again used Wayrest Fighters and Mages guilds and levelled up 1 rank on both so there is only an issue with the daily quests from Elden root

That sounds like maybe using the scroll counted as doing the daily. If you have scrolls, try doing the daily first to gain a level that way, then use any scrolls right after doing the daily.

I've not once used a scroll but had the issue numerous times from Elden with respect @SeaGtGruff

The scroll was used several weeks before the daily - I'd not been levelling Isobel up at the time, but the other unlocked companions were already max level. Seems unlikely that the scroll would carry over more than a day if there is an effect?

It USED to be that turning in a Guild quest with a companion, only gave *half* a level in that guild to that companion. This was true when Bastian and Mirri were first released, as the first pair of Companions.

To compensate for this, if you could get *different* versions of the guild quests (e.g. by sharing from player to player), you could turn in multiple in a day, and thus level up Bastian and Mirri's guild skills faster.

When more companions came out - and *they* had guild skills too - and these skills also had to be levelled up - there was quite the outcry: it is, not to put too find a point on it, horrendously boring and repetitive to have to do these quests so many times.

So it was changed. Now, completing a Guild quest should give an entire level in that Guild skill to the Companion.

But, to compensate for this, you can only gain 1 per day: sharing guild quests, or holding them over from a previous day (and thus handing in yesterday's *and* today's for the same guild), doesn't allow you to gain 2 levels of guild in 1 day.

That, at least, is how the design is supposed to work.

What's happening above, I can only say, looks weird - I've never had that problem: the only time I've had a guild skill fail to level up a companion is when I have been switching back and forth between companions because of those whose *rapport* levels up with a certain guild, and I can usually end up putting any errors there down to having forgotten to switch companion and handing in the guild quest with the wrong companion.

@ZOS_Kevin Thank you for getting back to me :)

I did file a support request the other day but I used the feedback/bug section on the support page and I never received a ticket number just a message saying something along the lines of not giving me a response but it had been noted. Maybe it was the combination of menus I used idk

Ah, okay. Your previous comment didn't give any indication of time between A and B, so the fact that you mentioned that you done A (scroll) before B (daily) left me with the impression that you were talking same-day-- otherwise, why mention it at all? But the OP has indicated that they haven't been using any scrolls, so clearly that isn't a potential factor in this. I wasn't trying to muddy the waters.

Ticket information is kept in the Help section of the website under “My Support.” All types of tickets are listed there for your reference, even after they are closed. All of my feedback/bug reports seem to be listed as “Other” for their category, regardless of what I selected for the specific category when I submitted the report, and the status for these tickets is always the same: “thank you for your feedback.”

If the ticket you submitted does not appear in your ticket history under My Support, I would report that as well so ZOS can look into why it wasn’t recorded properly. If it isn’t there, it may not have been received or processed and might need to be resubmitted.
