Been playing for almost 10 years, I have a character for every Class now, though that wasn't the case for most of the time even after Warden, Necro and Arcanist were introduce. All three times each Class seemed at least a little interesting but for the most part didn't grab at me, which is odd considering I've managed to find enjoyable playstyles with all four base game Classes. The Warden is my exception as even though it took me a while, I did find a playstyle I generally enjoyed, though niche it may be, (Full Ice Mage theme Build). With the other two they were nearly complete misses.

Warden:
Took me a while to figure out a groove with this one, but I did. I tried the intended Nature themed Healer for a short while, tested the Animal themed Damage Dealer abilities, but it was the Frost Damage abilities that really drew my attention. I rolled an Argonian Warden, focused on the Winter's Embrace tree paired with the Frost Staff and built for as much damage output I possible could within my budget following guides and advice. Sure I'm not pushing leaderboards, but it's immersive and pretty fun.

Necromancer:
The first new class I did not like straight out of the gate. I'm not into Death and Blood magic, even if the latter is kind of core to the Nightblade, I just ignore that. I don't like Skeletons, I don't like bones everywhere. I went the longest time before I finally made a StamNecro as a bratty little Sister to my MagKnight Pyromancer. The ONLY Class skill I have her equipped with is the Scythe as it's the least Death-y ability there is. She's still pretty much benched, I wanted to at least get her to Champion, but I don't see myself player it regularly, if at all.

Arcanist:
Another Class themed around a very specific thing that didn't check my box. I DO like the focus on a different form of Magic, but the tentacles...the tentacles were a deal breaker, and frustratingly enough the ability where you shoot giant tentacles out of your arm is the go to for every Damage Dealer build out there. I leveled a MagCanist as a makeshift Dual Wield Hybrid and the journey to Champion was a slog and now that she's leveled and somewhat geared It's still clunky and not very fun to play. Again, mostly benched as I continue playing my StamBlade, MagSorc, and StamKnight with periodic sessions with my MagPlar Healer and MagDen Ice Mage.

I'm 1 of 3 for the number of new Classes I like.

    On live servers it's necro, everything just feels so clunky with the class, no matter how much I try to adjust things. That does come with a caveat though, the vengeance version of necro (for the upcoming PvP test) feels significantly more fluid and fun to play than the live version.

    I could have picked Arc here too, but I really like runeblades as an ability (just wish it was slightly stronger to make it a viable alternative to build around instead of just beam spam) and the vengeance version of portal is extremely smooth to use (on par with streak imo).

    I could also have picked warden here too, well current warden, warden was very fun with the old arctic blast, now it's just boring health stacking polar warden.

    Arcanist by far.

    All because of Fatecarver.

    Not only does it create the most boring gameplay in existence with beam spam, but it's also super annoying to have the massive DPS drops whenever you need to block/dodge/bash or get stunned/interrupted (Even with Pragmatic morph)

    Runner up is Necro because of the clunkiness of the summons and the horrendous corpse mechanic.

    indeed. In pve, a large reason is due to our access to utility. warden healer is insane but if warden damage dealers didn't have to give up damage just to have 100% maturation uptime and access to frost cloak, you'd very likely start to see them played a lot more over warden healer which is in every single trial composition (and has been since 2017) which is not only extremely unhealthy class balance but also incredibly boring. trial composition does somewhat effect other pve areas of the game and so warden dps has generally been seen as bad for most of the course of the game even when its not bad.

    I like the idea of necromancer, but the unreliability of casting the skills is just horrible. If ZoS fixed it so the skills cast reliably, and so that they did decent damage (without having to farm IA for days), I'd be happy to use my 2 fully levelled Necros again.

    I actually like all the classes. Love my DK dps. Arcanists are fun - what's not to like about beaming everything. I have at least one of them all fully levelled and used at some time.

    The one thing I like about eso is the combat, so a class where you only use a super long channeled ability and call that a rotation feels boring (and I'm still satly over the fact that it took me 2000 hours to get 125k dps on my stamblade while other people can get the same by slotting a mythic and pressing a button once every 5 secs)

    Necromancers are fun and interesting in other games (thinking EQ, the Diablo series). ESO’s necromancer is more of a weird elementalist with Halloween-themed abilities. It doesn’t help that most of them suck. What a shame.

    Hahaha thank you. Yes, I have a DK tank and started as a DK tank but I have continuously failed to make the build correctly somehow, while my other tanks are completely fine. Sorc tank is actually becoming more popular, it’s up there with DK and Cro now.

    It's hard for me to enjoy nightblade. The in-and-out, passive sneak playstyle is something that I can't stand. In PvE, you don't sneak, you do consistent damage rather than burst, but classes like DK and Necro just seem to fill that consistent dps niche better.

    Despite that I main one, NB is the one I dislike the most.
    NB is the only class I have (granted I do not have an Arcanist but have maxed every other class) that never feels thematically good to play. I don't ever 'feel' like a Nightblade when I fight on one. I really only feel like one when I'm just cloaking through PvE content because I don't wanna deal with aggro and trash pulls while farming for sets in dungeons.

    I really wish more Nightblade abilities felt 'opportunistic'. I wish ZOS would consider more ways for Nightblade to feel like a combo class to match this thematic. Maybe using certain abilities in varying order creates different effects or empowers other abilities that get used afterwards. Hell even changing Nightblade abilities to be more effective based on positioning would feel more thematic but would also complicate bosses that never have available back/flanking hitboxes (like Sunspire dragons).

    But yeah; Nightblade just feels like a glorified Weapon Skill Line class compared to the others. Sorc, DK, Necro, Templar and Warden all feel so distinctive and appropriate for what they are. My observations on Arcanist (aside from the EGREGIOUS amount of beam spam) look distinctive and appropriate for the class as well.

    I mostly heal in PvE (PuG vet dungeons) and I just can't make Wardens fun. They're probably the best healers in the game on paper, but their healing abilities are all way too dependent on precision aiming at well grouped/positioned targets. It just doesn't work for me.

    On the PvP side of things, I currently like Sorc and Templar way more than the others, but I don't really have a single least favorite.

    Necromancer is a problem, because of its lack of a good spammable and the corpse consumption mechanic, which is a pain in the entire backside, not just my rearward facing orifice.
    I tried and tried for years to make a Necro build work on all levels that are important to me. SOLO performance/survivability, group play, in class synergy (I hate having to play with supplemental guild/weapon abilities) and a class fantasy based character background story.
    In the end I settled on a heavy attack build, that can use both Lightning and Restoration Staff, depending on the situational requirements.

    All other classes are enjoyable for me, because I do not run into these kind of ideosyncratic problems where a viable build is far off the class fantasy and my character's identity/backstory.

    I've not played necro or arcanist, so I can't really say much about them. The rest I would rank from most to least enjoyable:

    NB = DK > Templar = Warden > Sorc

    I feel going from left to right I need to rely more and more on non-class skills to make them work the way I like.

    There's several for me;

    Dragonknight; Just feels weird to me, can't get into it. The class seems all over the place to me. Doesn't know if it wants to be a fire mage, warrior, or a weird combination of the two. I'm also not a fan of the effects.

    Templar; Mainly just because I don't like holy type classes as I find them rather boring (vampire dark mage character appeals the most to me). So, it's more of a ME issue. Also, not a fan of the spears...

    Necromancer; HATE. I was so excited when it was announced as I LOVE dark mage playstyles (blood, shadow, and death magic). But I absolutely LOATHE how Necromancer is in this game. It's a Templar reskin (and a poor one at that). As well as a generic summoner class. The effects are poor, the corpse mechanic is...yeah, and it just doesn't feel dark or forbidden to me. The actual necromancers that you fight in this game (Mannimarco) are SO much cooler! Same with the npc vampires, their skills are much cooler than what we have...

    Sorcerer;
    Sorc is OKAY. But I HATE the summons...They're more annoying than they're worth, poorly textured, and rather ugly. Wish they'd let us CHOOSE our summons (same with Warden's bear, would love a big cat or wolf instead) for some customization and uniqueness or get rid of them completely. Not a fan of the 'Dark Magic' skill tree either... Storm is the most fun (for me anyway) paired with a flame and lightning staff for a full-on elemental mage feel.

    Arcanist;
    Haven't played it long enough to really give much of an opinion. Though I wished the Tome was an actual weapon rather than a skill effect (I like the thought of my character carrying a grimoire, have different grimoires that would do different things, like staves). We could use more weapon types in this game. Other than that, it's OKAY so far...

    Warden; Is alright, I LOVE the nature theme (especially for Argonian and Wood Elf). Wish we could choose our animal companion though instead of being stuck with a bear (just not really a bear person). I don't like that skill tree overall though. I like the healing skill tree and the winter/ice skill tree. Loads of fun for me. Warden would have been more fun though if it was an actual druid class (able to shape-shift into different animal forms to do different things in combat as well as summon various animals (of YOUR CHOOSING) to aid you in combat. Not a bunch of short-term...bugs, jellyfish, and a pterodactyl (Cliff Racer) with the only long-term pet companion being a bear...

    I'm just not a fan of the skill system in general; they're far too limiting. You're pigeonholed no matter what you choose.

    Even from release, when it was a powerful class in PVE and a top class in PVP, its always been wonky with extraordinarily poor targeting and the silly tether. Sustain was a big problem, back when sustain was something you had to worry about. Present-day, the class is still a mess. Its not worth using in PVP and it is relegated to a barely-relevant EC Cro role in PVE.

    Sorc < night blade =< dragon knight < being afk < warden =< Necro < templar < arcanist

    Between the obnoxious sound effects of the pets and hurricane sorcerer is just unplayable for me

    Night blade, I just hate the way it feels to play, love the stealth and hate everything else

    The DK comes in, my most played class unfortunately, it teeters the line of being playable for me. If night blade didn't exist it would be the worst feeling class for me

    Warden just has very annoying sound effects in the animal companion line, not absolutely unbearable like I find sorc so I do find the class playable and I do love the other 2 skill lines

    Arcanist is great (PvE wise), templar needs vampire staff noodle jabs fixed and Necro needs a necromancer to bring it back but I will always have a soft spot for it no matter how bad it is
