Unable to retrieve duplicate treasure map from reward box

Ok, so I had 2 of the same treasure maps (Murkmire 1). I had 1 in my bank and 1 in my inventory.
Then I got a reward box containing another copy of the map. I tried to open the box, but of course it said I could not take it because there was already one in my inventory.
Fair enough, so I dug up the one from my inventory.
Then I opened the reward box again.
BUG! The game still said I could not take it because I already had one in my inventory.
I made 100% sure there was no Murkmire treasure map in my inventory anymore. There was just 1 sitting in the bank. No matter how hard I tried (relog etc), I could not
retrieve the treasure map from the reward box, because it said I already had one in my inventory.
Then I took the one from the bank (no complaints about having already one) and dug that up. Now it would let me retrieve the map from the reward box.
But the fact the bank was able to add it to my inventory and the box was not able to add it to my inventory clearly shows there is a bug there.

I play on console and saw this behavior when I used the "Take Item" option, but it allowed me to pull it from the box when I used the "Take All" option.

So did you submit a bug report?

Honestly I think even without the bug we should be able to hold whatever maps, even if duplicates. And put them in the bank. I get tired of not being able to have more than one somewhere.

When this has happened to me, it’s because I was in gamepad mode. I’m not sure if you’re encountering the same bug or a different one with similar symptoms.

In keyboard mode, you can have a copy of the same map in your bank and in your inventory. In gamepad mode, you cannot add a map to your inventory even if you only have a copy in your bank. Switching modes fixes it.

But I thought I remembered reading another report where the same symptom was being encountered without gamepad mode being involved.

This has been going on for years with maps in event boxes only (not chests). Maps in the bank count as maps you own for these for reasons unknown. It's frustrating but at least you can keep the map within its box in your inventory until you've used the one in the bank. It's not like you have to lose it
