Player Response Options

I'd like to say that this is a very, very good addition. I dearly missed the roleplaying options from basegame, and this seems like a great comeback.
I do have some questions, if someone at ZOS (or people questing on the PTS) could answer please

1) Are these only for new content, or will some old quests be updated? (let us smooch Ithelia smh my head)
2) Do NPCs react differently to the various personality dialogue options?
3) How frequent are these? Sometimes we get [Skill Line] options but they're very rare. I'd like to see these be way more common than that

I'd appreciate any responses, thanks!

I was interested to see this section, too, and wonder how it will play out. It certainly has the potential to be a great addition to the game, and to lessen the presentation of the Vestige as an empty vessel who has the hardest time understanding.

    I'm looking forward to this!

Looks like another run through Auridon on a new character...

Yeah, would likely make me not just mash e through the endless exposition dialogue if I had dialogue choices that actually influenced the quest.

    Will be interesting to see

Hey everyone! Answered this on social media, but making sure I followed up here. Thanks @CoolBlast3 for the questions.
    1. Just new content at the moment. Mostly because it changes how the NPC reacts to you or what they say to you.
    2. Yes, they do. You'll see the first taste of it in the Prologue Quest on PTS.
    3. More frequent than persuade/ intimidate, but not every convo!

With the new attention being paid to basegame zones, I would love, love, love to see the old quests get some of these enhancements. I know it's probably not possible with the voice acting requirements, but I think over the years a lot of players have expressed a desire to see this sort of feature throughout the game. I know that, for example, when I went back and did Rivenspire's story for the first time I was definitely disappointed that my character's vamparism wasn't even briefly acknowledged.

That said, even just going forward, more dialogue options is an awesome addition!

inb4 we see an old friend that we haven't seen for ages and everything was platonic and noncommittal before but now I can immediately start hitting on them. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the clarifications, Jason. Looking forward to having a less passive role in conversations and seeing how character dynamics and quests are affected by our choices.

I am still super excited about it. Are there plans to eventually expand it out to more? I do understand that would be a huge undertaking.

@ZOS_JasonBarnes, is it possible to color-code or icon/text-mark the "recap" questions for Alzheimer players?
like [Recap] "where we are?"; [Recap] "what we are doing?"; [Recap] "who is Vivec?" and such.
it would be very convenient and players will not think theirs characters are plain dumb?

The addition sounds great! And I am frankly happy it is only applied to new content for the moment because...

If it ever were applied retroactively to older quests, I wish the ability to retake quests without making a new character was added concurrently, then. I would hate to remake 6–7 of my characters to be able to retake all the quests I have done in four years just to experience all the new options :D And I mean, I might really do it. So please don't make me.

I hope these different response options show up regularly. Of course they're not neccessary for every single dialogue, but I really hope we see them more often than just once or twice throughout the new story content.

It reminds me a bit of those dialogue options linked to the player character's skill level, such as we saw them in High Isle - but that was also only twice, I think, which was nice, but hardly made a big difference altogether. It's a pity because it was a good idea.
