My 55" 4K TV has a DPI scaling of 300%. This is the recommended setting and makes reading comfortable from the sofa. Launching ESO, there is a nice option to change the default scaling from windows to launcher (or the other way around, I forget) which makes it nice and readable. Great!
In game though, no matter what settings I use the rendering of everything looks like 720p. Infact, this is the resolution detected by default when after I erase all settings and then change to Fullscreen. Changing the resolution in game has no impact on any visual improvement.
Changing the High DPI settings for the ESO binary to "High DPI scaling override -> Application" fixes this and ESO now renders at a glorious 4K. In 2024 I should not have to do this. There's a settiung in the launcher to handle the launcher scaling, can we get one in the game as well to fix this rendering issue please? I'm sure many less technically savvy people won't be able to do this.
Ironically, my steam deck on the same TV sets the resolution to 1080p (forced by steam) so it looks better than my high end gaming PC .... which it should not do!
