I'd prefer to see sub classes which allows every current class to chose between a few optional skill lines such as healing/necromancy etc for sorcs.

I don't understand why some people don't want any new classes, just cause we get a new class or two does not mean we will never get more skill lines in the ones that already exist.

In all past The Elder Scrolls games, character creation has not been anywhere near as rigid as it is in ESO. Granted, many RPGs use fixed classes, but TES games never did.

Historically in TES games, when you go to create a character, you essentially generate your own class by choosing the skill lines you want your character to know, or choose from a fairly large set of pre-made "classes" that aren't really classes so much as pre-made groups of skill lines.

It would have been nice from the beginning if ESO continued that model, after all it's the first TES games that doesn't have that model. Think about it, you could have chosen your race, then selected (for example) Assassination, Storm Calling, and Restoring Light for your three skill lines.

So people who have played TES games in the past know this and would prefer this method of character creation. Do away with fixed classes and just add new skill lines to select from - like all of the Elder Scrolls games do.

I would expect TES 6 will have this non-fixed class model, but I guess we'll have to see if they keep with tradition or if they pick up what ESO has now established.

    Edit:
One more thing.. ESO kindof has the traditional skill line choice/progression in the sense that you can choose your weapon line or level all of the lines if you want. You can choose your Armor line, or level them all. Guild lines, World lines, Crafting lines are all a choice and any character can level any of those lines. But when it comes to class skill lines, they are fixed to specific classes and that's what people want Zenimax to get rid of.

If they add a new class, they should bump the base character slots by 3 (one for each alliance) to be granted when you purchase the DLC (or subscriber) and allow some more purchasable slots.

If ppl have to delete a toon to make a new class toon, I'd say don't bother.

I think the best class idea would be a Summoner, that is both Necro or Druid depending on morph.

Mag = Necro - more staff orientated
    Stam = Druid - more melee/bow orientated

These are all crappy pile of poop, since I haven't given them too much thought yet, but general idea is something like this.

    Barbarian.

No spell bs, crazy natural resistances, some burst regen and weapon mastery allowing one to have 3 skill bars active for 3 different types of weapons.

    Priest.

Skill lines would be one of Arkay, one of Stendarr and one of Julianos. Could be the only class that can have skill like "instead of dying, get back to full health and regen 100 ulti over 5 seconds. This has cooldown od 20min/10min/5min"

As always when this comes up, my opinion is that justz adding classes at this point would severely vex older players, both due to the "Why start a new character when I already played through the game eight/twelve times!" and the "Why now and not back when I made that character, this class would have been such a better fit for the backstory..."

So I would say no to new classes as new classes, but yes to some other sort of way to refit new classes to the existing system, so everyone could benefit, both old hands and new players. Something alonmg the lines of, oh, say... some sort of class morph, perhaps?
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/240186/class-morph-idea/p1

Though while that would by my favorite take on the matter (duh) I'd also be happy with more guild or world skill lines, really... as long as all the new can be refitted on old characters, and not require people to forget their old characters, make new characters and play the whole game once again... because even habitual altaholics like me start finding it tenious after a few repetitions...

When ESO was first being developed only DK/NB/Sorc were going to be added following the Warrior,Rogue and Mage archetypes... eventually Templar was added.

ZOS asked earlier last year on Twitter what classes people would want and the Druid/Necromancer were tied neck to neck... I'm sure this is a tough decision for Zenimax since i doubt we'll get both at the same time.

    Necromancer benefits
We would get a class that would have undead summoning and a frost class skill line---

    Druid benefits
---'We would get a class that would have poison/disease/nature class skill line and possibly a skill line to even summon/tame wild animals( think spriggan)

I honestly feel like Zenimax has already decided on Necromancer after making stamina Dragon knights into snake knights instead of just making their fire spells physical rock spells.

The irony that Necromancer won but it is currently the least played class :(

    No new class please
Personally, I don't want to re-create a toon, what is a no go for a new class and at same time I have no interest into a new class. In the past, I created a char for necro and one for arcanist, but in the end, I always came back to my templar. The others are just getting covered by dust over time.

Now I could say that it's OK and I will just not use it, but it's not true: A new class is a big add that would probably mean a reduced new content aside of this "key" feature. So, for players not interested into a new class, it would probably mean not much new content to enjoy. That's why egoistically, I vote "no please"... o:)

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in October 2016. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
