Getting favors of Sharp: Does it actually work?

I really try to push favors of Sharp with my current character as much as possible. I harvest alchemy nodes, I fish, I farm heavy sacks, I kill ghosts. But the slider does not move in a perceivable way at all.

I have no companion quest and Sharp has no quest marker...

I have the impression that it is broken for me.

The slider is not functional as a slider at all. It's a horrible design because it infers that it'll move as you increase rapport, but it doesn't.

The marker on the slider will jump significantly whenever you cross the each threshold. But doesn't move other than that. As long as you see the green positive reaction in your loot log, then it's working.

If you're talking about the Rapport system, then yes it will be working it's just not a particularly great system.

The entire system is based on static numbers. The "Slider" only moves once you pass thresholds of 1000.

When you obtain a companion, they will start at 750 Rapport. The first companion quest comes at 1000 Rapport.

Most of the random rapport boosts you have, will give +1 or maybe +5 rapport. So you can see that in order to get that 250 Rapport for the first quest, you can do literally hundreds of +Rapport things and still not get there.

The main way of increasing the Rapport with companions are the special tasks they like which give a whopping 125 Rapport (As well as completing their Companion quests when they become available as they give 500 Rapport)

For Sharp, he can get 125 Rapport from doing a Necrom World Boss Daily Quest and an Ashlander Hunt Daily Quest (Once per day)

But darn, how much do I have to grind for Sharp favors? I really put out an effort.

All the companions are pretty grindy in terms of unlocking their quests. Here's a full list for Sharp:

Note the timers - don't repeat tasks too soon! His dialogue on seeing a Hist tree is pretty cool. Also worth taking him with you to complete a bunch of treasure maps if you have them. Also as best I can tell you don't need to loot heavy sacks, just look in them.
