Bring back 3 teams BGs with the following changes:
ChaosballPROBLEMS:
- Ball carrier could move around the map at high speed. Would be all but impossible to catch.
- Players could take the ball to cheesy places where they couldn't be damaged OR where you had to give up your life to damage them.
SOLUTION:
- Reduce ball carrier speed by 30%
- Fix cheesy places.
Capture the Relic PROBLEMS:
- Standing around guarding a relic is boring.
- Pointlessly parsing a tank who is guarding a relic is boring.
- Having your relic stolen through the wall, or because the grabbing animation didn't play correctly is boring.
SOLUTION:
- Why don't we cut through the boredom and jump to the fun part right from the get go? What if a player from each team was randomly selected as the ''relic holder''? The goal of the match would be to kill the other team's relic holder while protecting your own. When the relic holder dies ''the light'' jumps to another player of the team after 30 seconds, the new relic holder. I wonder if there is some kind of problem with this format that I'm not seeing. It would, in a way, be similar to the current 8v8 chaosball.
Crazy King and Domination PROBLEMS:
- While two teams fight, the third team flips the flags. This becomes a huge problem if the fight stalemates.
SOLUTION:
The objective would be a single flag, one that slowly moves around the map. It would essentially become ''Escort payload mode''. This would work better in ESO than in a lot of other games that already have the mode.
DeathmatchPROBLEMS:
- Technically encourages two teams focusing the weakest one.
- High level matches devolve into a kind of ''no sandwich dance''.
SOLUTION:
- I dont think anything can be done about this except maybe protect the bases to prevent spawn camping.
4v4v4
Even with your suggested fixes..
Chaosball- Two teams end up deathmatching while one team turtles the ball
Capture the Relic- Two teams end up focusing the weaker team.
Crazy King and Domination- Two teams end up deathmatching while the dominant team has the flag
Deathmatch- I left BG because my 4-player team has two 19k health NBs and a 50k health DK block tank.
4v4 and 8v8
I get to deathmatch all day while automatically contributing towards the objectives.
If a meaningful number of trolls still decide to
ignore objectives that encourage fighting there could be a new Debuff with the following rules:
- Can't use any abilities.
- Can't be damaged or have the hp restored in any way. (lava, fall, and enviromental damage should probably still apply)
- No regeneration.
Chaosball- You would be affected if you move more than 40m away from the objective.
Crazy King and Domination (NEW escort payload)- Same as chaosball.
Deathmatch- The effect could be added around the bases to prevent spawn camping.
Capture the Relic- The relic holders would still have the healing debuff that grows over time. It would make no sense to continuously gang up on the softer team when there is a target that can't heal right beside them.
