Is the "PTE" sequence to get put back into dungeon after dying an exploit?

I might be misremembering the sequence of buttons to push, but I remember it as "PTE". This would allow a dead player on a hard last boss fight in a dungeon to leave the dungeon, then port back to a player still in the fight, but without being rezzed officially.

The first time I saw this was a few days ago on a HM last boss of Bloodroot forge fight. The tank kept yelling at us to do the "PTE" thing and come back without needed to be rezzed. I admit, I did do this a couple times and it works. You can get back to the fight without being rezzed. But after a couple times I just laid on the ground waiting for rezzes while the group wiped. I pointed out that this really seems like an exploit to me and I wasn't going to engage in this work around just in case, so rez me or kick me. They did neither and I ended up abandoning the group just to get out of the funky situation.

@ZOS_Kevin

Can we please get an official statement on whether or not this is an exploit or not? One player in the group insisted it's not, but it sure seems like an exploit to me.

    i dont remember where its at right now, but i know at one point they did disable the PTE while in combat, but then might have reverted that due to being stuck in combat and unable to leave instance also being a problem lol

    i dont know if it was ever changed back to being disabled while in combat

    i do know that doing this will void a no death achievement for the dungeon run, or cost vitality points in a vet arena or trial

    There was a time when some groups abused the PTE trick to get trial trifectas, especially in KA, so much that ZOS prohibited players from doing it in combat for a while. But as far as I know PTE in combat now consumes vitality, so players can no longer rely on it for easy trifectas. From what I can see ZOS has already patched the parts they consider exploits.

    I would avoid pteing in combat unless you’re legitimately stuck in a wall or the floor (or if the instance will be reset). It’s not how the game is meant to be played and negates the use of necro res ult and templar res speed, thus may or may not be an exploit still.

    It's definitely against the spirit of the game, but if you're just trying to compete a pledge and your tank is the only one alive with the boss at 10% or something go for it.

    It's clearly a questionable "work around" if not an outright exploit. I'd say don't do it just because it's so tacky. This is just a game, no reason to do stuff like this in my opinion. Even if it's allowed, like you say, it goes against the spirit of fair and fun gaming.

    They fixed what made it an exploit so you’re fine to use it now. It’s really just up to the player if they don’t want to wait for a rez and get back in the fight.

    I assume this is leaving instance while dead, resurrecting and travel to tank who is still on boss.
    And yes leaving instance should be vitality hit.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
