With the change to Glacial presence's 200% chance to proc chilled, which destro is best to use is it still ice or would fire/lighting staff with charged frost glyph be better for the 12% status effect damage or 12% direct damage. I'll be using Frostbite and master's staff so without ice staff i'll lose the minor brittle 2% increase, but gain burning/concussed effects.

Frostbite isn't worth using if you're not using an ice staff. hell, its even hard to recommend with an ice staff outside of aoe trash packs in trials.
in pve its probably worth noting that in most cases you'll lose a lot of single target damage swapping to shock clench or flame reach since frost reach has an inherent almost double initial hit damage increase over those other 2 things, though i have seen a shock clench+2h build do more dps than double ice staff or ice/2h.

in pvp, ice staff is probably safer still since you'd gain that extra defensive benefit and solid dps.

Ok thanks, are there any sets you'd recommend for pvp?, I want to have a fun ice build i was going to use master's front bar vma back, but i dont know which sets would be good. I can only think of Acuity, Frostbite and Ice furnace as offensive sets.

The frost mage is no longer as effective as it used to be.

Lightning or dual will give you much more DPS regardless of a build based on Master Ice.
Oakfather will give you much more DPS than Frostbite.

If you wanna play with less than 30k health, for piercing cold passive, or you want to increase your chilled rate, just use a scribe spammable with frost dmg.

    Ice sets
    glacial guardian
    Hrothgars chill (not great)
Frozen watcher (more of a tank set)
    Winterborn
    Icy conjurer
    Nunatak (monster set)
Whorl of the depths (trial set)
    Systres scowl
    Ysgramor birthright
    Iceheart
    Plus the ones you mentioned

I haven’t done a frost build in PvP for some time but I’d look into Nunatak, winterborn and Whorl and see how they fit your style. If they don’t I’d say check the others.

I've been trying Frostbite, Systres and Master's/Vma, It's ok in BGs I'll probably try dropping Vma for Sea serpent and maybe drop Frostbite when I get around to it.

For offensive sets, try Oakfather's Retribution, it's pretty good. 5 piece Shattered Fate is a popular choice, bit more damage, bit less healing. Also the new Tracker's Lash sounds interesting for Ranged Mag, but i haven't tried it yet.

I switched to Lightning for the last patch after having ran Ice consistently for maybe 4 years on Warden, but probably I'll switch back and when I do - I'll probably wear Frostbite, but I'll test it against Oakfathers. They've been about the same for me when I've tested them.

The PVP "Meta" Magden is Acuity FB, Rallying Cry/Wretched BB, and Balorgh. It's not strictly a Frostden, but it's the closest thing to it that's still viable and fun to play. Just pop Northern Storm when Acuity isn't on cool down and hit people with the Vamp Spammable and Shalks. Everything dies.

Draugrkin should get a special mention. Pretty good as it applies to your Chill and the damage that applies it. I did a Draugrkin/Heartland Conqueror and it was pretty nice if you stack a lot of DoT’s. Not a PvP build but pretty fun.

I’m working on a Frostden PvP spec. I’ve theorycrafted a pretty nasty setup. Needs testing though.
