Hello, latest maj (28/10) broke sound in game, after the 2nd opening panels the sound disappears and is completely absent from the games, no voice of environmental sounds or music. In the fights there is a very very weak sound resembling the friction of a cell phone in the pocket of a trouser. The experience is disappointing

First, you may want to double check your audio settings using the steps here. Next, it may help to repair the launcher. Here is an article for a similar issue on PC, however the steps to repair should be the same on Mac.

Thank you for the answer, and sorry, I forgot to indicate the specifications of the machine : M1Max/Sonoma14.7 et là je vais tester avec 14.7.1.
I have already checked all the audio settings of the system and the game, and everything is correct.
I would come back to give the result with the maj 14.7.1...

Finally, in a 3rd attempt, I launched a repair, then launched the game directly via the launcher (which I usually never do) the game had the sound up to the connection panel, but I faced an account error (it's not the first time after an update) then after leaving, I relaunched the game directly via the icon without going through the launcher, the sound disappeared again and again a condition acceptance panel appeared. But the sound is still absent by launching the game through the icon. When launching the game again by the launcher, the condition acceptance panel also appeared and the sound is present... there is a conflict between the launcher and the ESO application somewhere.

I had the same problem (Windows 11). This morning, before the patch, everything was fine, but when I logged in this evening, the sound was missing. I could only hear very few sounds like bow light attacks - everything else was muted. I tried to repair the game several times - to no effect. I tried the steps linked by ZOS-Phoenix - nothing helped.

So I searched the internet and checked the cinematic trailer (as recommended somehwere) - funnily, the trailer was still with sound, but... in German. Although I am German, I do not play the game in German and I have the German sound files deleted, so I have no idea where that came from. According to the launcher the language setting is still set to English US.

So I deleted the sound files from the game file, opened the launcher and let it redownload the missing sound files. But still, the problem remained.

So I checked this forum and found this thread - and now it is really strange. When I start the game through the launcher: everything is fine; I have sound and the language is English. But when I start the game through the ESO.exe, as I usually do, I have no sound (except the ones I mentioned above) but all the texts are in German now. I checked the language files again: there are nor German language files, only the English ones. Unless they are somewhere hidden where I can't see them?

This is really strange - but as long as I can have my functional English version through the launcher, I'm good. :)

@Edit: I checked the UserSettings.txt: both "SET LastValidLanguage" and "SET Language.2" where set to "de", so I changed them to "en". I opened the game through the ESO.exe and and least the texts are back in English, but still no sound. And the language of the cinematic trailer is still German... :#

    Same issue here.

I have multiple accounts, and play my main account through steam. For the other accounts I log in by directly opening the exe to log in to non-steam accounts, but when not launching via the launcher, I have no audio in game (or very muted audio of just combat sounds).

Something is wrong and requiring the game to be opened via the launcher every time to have sound.

I do not want to have multiple copies of the massive game files installed just for the steam and non-steam versions.

    ...and same issue here.

Strangely enough, there actually IS sound as usual when the Bethesda logos and writings are flying in. But when the login screen appears, there's no background audio and no audio in the game after logging in.

Only when using the launcher everything is back to normal again.

    EDIT#2:
I found a work around for my problem with the exe always forcing the german voice output, at least for Windows 11 user (don't know about other versions or OS):
    Open Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region
Look for "Regional format" and change it to "English (Your country)"

    Same problem here.
German Windows 11, game and launcher set to English.
When I start the game with the launcher I have sound, when I use eso64.exe I have no sound at all.

What I found so far is:

Start via launcher, usersettings.txt, these two values are changed
    - SET LastPlatformLanguage "en"
    - SET IgnorePatcherLanguageSetting "0"

Start via eso64.exe, usersettings.txt changes the same two values
    - SET LastPlatformLanguage "de"
    - SET IgnorePatcherLanguageSetting "1"

And I can't change them manually in the settings, eso64.exe always overwrites them.

    Edit:
As a test, I changed the language to German in the launcher and downloaded the new sound files.
If I start the game now via eso64.exe, I have sound.
The interface can be changed to English as usual, but the voice output is now in German and I can't find a way to change it.
The only way to get both the English interface and the voice output is to set the launcher to English and start the game with that.

I also tried to change "SelectedEnglishVOLanguage" from "0"(default value) to "1" in the usersettings.txt but that doesnt do anything. Is this not yet implemented or does it use other values?

On an M3 macbook pro with Sequoia 15.1, starting via launcher, no steam running, windowed full screen, no external screen

I would see the rolling screens with sound, then no sound on log in screen. I looked at my mac output setting and it was set to internal speakers (gray), selecting macbook internal speakers turned it (blue) then went to the load screen and sound was there. For me it was like a background app was stealing the sound focus and i just had to point it back to the running game.

Note that i normally run with ventrilo (latest mac 64 patch) and since update 44 i was having a lot of ("an error has occurred" ) game crashes (dropping to log in screen) that also caused ventrilo to lose sound. A log off and on to the vent server would get sound back. My buddy and I switched to Discord and so far the sound issues and error crashes have gone away.

Some of my issues, may help you all.
