10-Year Anniversary Special - EVERY Item Made Available for a Limited Time

How about making ESO's 10-Year anniversary something to remember!? For a limited time, have EVERY item that's ever been for sale available in the store. Including those long forgotten, missing items (Dragon's Treasure Trove). Every: house, music box, costume, personality, etc. for sale. All... at... once! That's reason to celebrate!

What, you mean like maybe I'd be able to buy that monkey pet that was given out many years ago as a loyalty reward? (I don't think that's what you meant, but I'm anticipating that someone might bring up other rewards that players got but which were not sold through the Crown Store.) As awesome as it would be to have a chance to buy any in-game item, emote, personality, etc. that was ever added to the game, it would probably upset some people if the item or other thing was a special one-time loyalty reward or other one-time bonus reward, like some of the prepurchase bonuses that were offered to encourage people to prepurchase a new chapter.

Edit: So as long as they were only those things that were ever offered for sale in the Crown Store, it sounds like an awesome idea. :)

    that would be cool,
would probably be very overwhelming though for the game and for people.

especially as we don't have a search function in the crown store.

I would really like that--I don't know if it would be easy for the crown store UI, but it would be awesome to have the opportunity to get some older cosmetics/houses.

So for the 10 year anniversary you can spend money in the crown store to get old items, I hope not only that because that would be the suckiest 10 year anniversary of gaming history!

    I don't think that's fitting for a 10-years anniversary of the game.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Well, if you take it that way, it's indeed a convincing argument. :D

They should definitely double the prices in that case, just to further improve the customer experience.

I'm against that proposal. Those who got the old items (e.g. the beta monkey) earned them, and making them available to all of us (a) gives those with more money an unfair advantage and (b) cheapens the value of these well-earned items.

Besides reasons already given on why not:

I really don't think the engine's crownstore interface can handle that much information. If other games with better servers with in-game item shops struggle under the sheer weight of mass sales information in listing every item and picture, I don't think ESO Crownstore stands a chance.🤭

The OP stated "EVERY item that's ever been for sale available in the store." So that wouldn't include loyalty / sub rewards, because they were never for sale. You only have the beta monkey if you participated in beta -- not because you bought it in the store.

The anniversary has come and gone, so it's all a moot point now... but what would have been nice for the anniversary would have been offering a different rotation of legacy crown store items every week. So, not too much to overwhelm the system, but enough to offer more variety than what's in the store presently.

How about for the 10th we figure out how to help players locked on old platforms move? And before the white knights saddle up, yes I know they can't do it. I just miss playing this game is all.

I couldn't disagree that this game's monetization is twelve shades of Molag Bal, but there have been genuinely potentially massively value adding items in the store, naturally FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY, which some of us have missed.

Finally they added a class to the game which I love - arcanist - but I missed the very cool Unutterable Truths Tower by a few months. So to get max value out of playing my new arcanists, I'd have to wait another year or two. Or three. Or however long it takes to cycle back again.

Very into housing. Not super into many of the available homes though. And support no longer allow you to buy homes outside of sale periods minus the base furnishings.

There have also been a few nice mounts I'd enjoy. Not any of the outrageously fluorescent jobs. Nice, boring but artful ones.

Without those, I may remain on the fence about returning until I at least get the tower.

    Or miss it again.

Cos I have that kind of life.

I am not against the idea but there may be a database design limitation. I am not speaking to a limitation of how many items it can have but a limitation to how much it can process. Obviously, I have not seen the database but I have seen databases have similar limitations due to being asked to do more than intended.

Businesswise I think it is a great idea for Zenimax to do. They could do it shortly before holding a crown sale so to boost profits from the offering. People would have to pay the full price for crowns unless they had banked a lot beforehand.

Sure, any technical system can be pushed past real limits, but no.

This system - monetization - is their bread and butter. It would always have been comfortably resourced.

Hypothetically if at risk of being overwhelmed by a surge of demand from those wanting to THROW OBSCENE AMOUNTS OF MONEY at them during a special sale like this, they'd sensibly spend a bit of money temporarily buffing up those systems so they could receive all of that money.

Don't forget that they're now owned by tech king Microsoft.

Of course. Technical limitations are merely a technicality. The issue with a db I worked with that was pushed past its limits was resolved. It was determined at a hefty cost as it had to be replaced. In simpler terms, if the price of the resolution is not palatable, then the technical limitation will still be a limit.

Of course, that is only if there is a technical limitation, as there may be business reasons they do not make such an offering. It is the business side that makes such a decision.

My full comment where that one sentence quoted came from noted that I think it is a great idea. Making such a blanket offering when many people would have to pay full price for the crowns would lead to making a bank. It would have to occur randomly and far from any sale on crowns to ensure full benefit. This is just speaking to the incentive that could sway the business decision on this.
