[REQUEST] ZOS, please check if there are thieves trove farming bots

I try to open up a few thieve troves since a couple of days but I have to observe that while for normal treasure chests the ratio of visited location to spawned chest is about 2:1 or even 3:2 it is more like 10:1 for thieves troves.

This indicates that a lot of people are either farming thieves troves like hell (combined to the slow respawn this leads to emptied world - not even zones - world!) or there are bots out there...

I suspect the respawn rate for them is just longer than treasure chests, plus the fact that there are much fewer of them. It’s really hard to find them on console without add-ons.

^^^ Plus, the fact that they're usually easier to see than treasure chests because of their distinctive glow. Yes, treasure chests also have a glow, of a different kind, but you must acquire the Excavation skill line and level it up enough to get the Keen Eye: Treasure Chests passive, whereas the distinctive glow from thieves troves has no such requirement-- although they do require access to the Thieves Guild DLC, which may or may not have been given away for free some months ago (I can't remember if it was the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood that was given away for free). Consequently, even new players can easily see thieves troves while running around Tamriel. In my experience, the majority of players who do spot a thieves trove are going to veer aside from wherever they were going to run over and grab it. All of which is not to say there are no bots farming them, as that's still a possibility, but just to say that actual players might also be snatching them up.

Farming bots exist because they make money from selling the materials.

Where is the profit from farming troves?

Thieves Troves can also contain Roguish Escape Draught and Roguish Stealth Draught potions, which seem like they could be useful in PvP, as well as pieces of zone set gear. And on Vvardenfell they can contain motif pages and style materials for the House Hlaalu, House Redoran, and House Telvanni styles.

I’m not sure why bots would farm these, I don’t even bother unless it’s an endeavor.

lol! I see what you did here.

Well, I loot troves and sometimes I farm them. But all manually so the definition of "bot" does not hold :)

I wonder why you say this. Is it because you are one of the bots and trying to derail and divert?

I can't imagine it would be worth their while using farm bots for troves, they don't respawn quickly enough and consistently enough to make mapping a route worthwhile (and they aren't usually close together and away from enemy which is usual criteria for the bots I see). Metal nodes respawn quickly so a bot can plan a route and be much more effective. It also requires the bot account to have thieves guild dlc, and as the accounts get squashed regularly it would be cost prohibitive

Someone can use a bot to farm thieves troves just like someone can manually farm thieves troves. The difference between those two players is that one of them is breaking the rules and the other is manually farming thieves troves.

Bots do not have to be gold sellers or be run from some bot farm in Elbonia. They can be normal everyday players.

So, it is certainly possible that it is a thing. It probably is not a big thing, though.

As to ZOS squashing such things... Eh... yes? I mean, they have to catch them first. That has always seemed to be the real hurdle for them.

Doesn’t opening thieves troves require the Thieves Guild DLC? Why would bots make such an investment?
