Cooldown on Gold Plunder Skulls

Based on my experience today, it seems the cooldown for these is across all gold plunder types. I don’t remember this being the case.

I was waiting at a delve boss with about 4 other high cp players and I didn’t get a drop the first time, no gold coins or anything. I was distracted by something and hesitated a couple seconds and that was enough. I went to a public dungeon and got a gold plunder skull there, then came back. The next time I got a drop, but it was only gold coins. I had to wait a third time to get a gold plunder skull for the delve.

Is this correct behavior?

There is a cooldown on receiving loot from boss enemies.

This has always been the case and is not tied to Plunder Skulls directly, it is just the general behaviour of boss enemies.

Generally, yes. I thought the event said you get a gold plunder skull from the first boss of each type you defeat. If so, then they need to caveat that it drops if outside the cooldown. I do know purple plunder skulls have a cooldown too but was under the impression the gold ones, since they would be different boss types, were not. If this is not the case, then it is another disappointment in a long string of disappointments.

It’s also strange that this would have not happened to me before.

Here is what the event page says:

“What’s more, whenever you fell a unique boss type for the first time each day, you’ll be rewarded instead with a special Dremora Plunder Skull”

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/66853

So at least this is an edge case that does not follow the description.

The cooldown is general. ANY loot from ANY boss type enemies has a cooldown.

It doesn't matter if it's a Plunder Skull or regular items, if you kill boss type enemies too quickly you'll just get a handful of coins instead of loot.

This has always been the case. It however is normally not really noticeable outside of clearing out Public Dungeon bosses (As you can blast through several pretty quickly)

It gets exacerbated by the current event where you're specifically trying to kill lots of bosses for Plunder Skulls.

I think group dungeon bosses might be an exception to the "ANY loot from ANY boss type" general rule on cooldowns.

Group dungeon, arena, IA (anything instanced) doesn't have a cool down on boss loot.

I read and understood your point.

But apparently the wording used in the announcement isn't entirely accurate if a standard loot cooldown period is in effect.

I agree, so the wording needs to be changed.

The implication is that the gold boxes don’t have a cooldown like the purple skulls do, but they seem to have it as well.

You'll get your gold skull from the next boss of that type you kill, though. I don't think it happens enough that they have to complicate the wording for an edge case and confuse the majority of the players who will never encounter this.

No, because there's a delve which also has incursions and I got both the delve and the incursions within ten minutes.

But I'm noticing since the patch I'm not getting some boss kills 'awarded' when I did do them, and have to do them again.
