New BGs are awesome but need a mercy rule for lopsided matches

You both have missed the point..
Tbh, I don't even know your point.

Im a brawler Dps that knows how to react to dmg and some players have called me a tank while I have 22k resistances. Ive yet to see a healer survive 8 players in High MMR. 60k hp block tank with Goliath tho. whole other story.

You voted in my poll that you think 4v4 makes for good competitive BG gameplay so I find this thread interesting, haha. But I agree that 8v8 definitely has close games and momentum shifts-- I quite enjoy that mode so far as some nonsensical fun.... so really the problem isn't 2 teams vs 3 teams but imo, 4v4.
4v4 is too volatile for randoms but 4v4 between premades is competitive. 8v8 solo random averages out skill levels better, but sometimes you randomly end up with one team basically being a ball group and obliterating everything. Just finished a 504-488 Domination 8v8 match that was a lot of fun, action on all 3 flags, both teams held leads.

Yeah, I'm just confused because I wasn't replying to anything that Theist said and I don't even know what they mean by tanks/healers being the same thing, confused by the fact that they made it seem like survivability/sustain isn't a problem in every part of the game, and how any of that correlates to 4v4v4 having "absolutely nothing competitive about it". Especially when I consider that 4v4 in my experience so far has made cross-healing and survivability way more of an issue than 4v4v4 ever did.

Yeah you do. You just don’t like that it’s in disagreement with yours. 😂
And no, I really don't. I don't even know what you're disagreeing with exactly? Is it my real life experience that healers/tanks weren't that much of a problem? Or that I think they should have just left BGs alone???? If so, I don't know what to tell you on either of those points. I guess agree to disagree, you know? I don't know, haha.

So would you agree that 4v4 being the ONLY ranked/"competitive" BG format for solos and groups is bad? Because that was the context of my poll, not that 4v4 isn't competitive or inherently bad.

I don't want 8v8 to have leaderboards or anything. Just there to fight. That's part of what's makes it work. The stat sheet at the end of the match is enough to see performance. 4v4 is more demanding on individual skill so it's more appropriate for an individual leaderboard, problem is it really needs strict mmr if it's not premade only.

    Greetings all,

After removing some comments, we would like to remind everyone that all posts are to be kept within the guidelines of the rules. Trolling and Baiting is a violation of these guidelines, and is stated as follows:
    • Trolling or Baiting: The act of trolling is defined as something that is created for the intent to provoke conflict, shock others, or to elicit a strong negative or emotional reaction. It’s okay and very normal to disagree with others, and even to debate, but provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable in the official The Elder Scrolls Online community. Inviting someone to present their claim as fact is not trolling or baiting, @ZOS_GregoryV, I want a review of those messages you snipped.

A "ready check" alike system to allow players to forfeit without the deserter penalty could be a good idea.

Title. When the match is obviously decided in the first few minutes, just call it like you would in non-pro sports, or give teams the option to forfeit, something whatever. No point making everyone sit there basically just waiting for 10 minutes, or slamming them with a 30 minute deserter penalty for not playing out a dead lopsided match.

I haven't done BGs in a very long time but they should have a point system where if one side gets far enough ahead, a 2 minute time activates and if the other side doesn't narrow the lead, the match is declared over.

I came back to try the new BG 8v8. My experience:

Queued 6 times. Four times: cancelled due to not enough players. = Wasted ? 30 minutes?

1 time: Crazy King. It has been so long since I did BG that I forgot what the point of this was. My team lost.

Deathmatch: this I understood. This was lots of fun. But it was lopsided. We were slaughtering the other team. More and more of them just started staying up in their safe zone and pew pewing attacks down onto the playing field. By the end, only 3 of their players would jump off, and of course they got slaughtered.

I did one 4v4 since I couldn't get into an 8v8. The other group was playing like a ball group. They had enormous shields/heals , very hard to kill. They moved as a unit and clumped onto their flags, or whatever it was. Me and the 3 other pugs didnt have a chance.

Overall these 15 minute matches lack the depth and variety of Cyrodil PvP.

There needs to be a 'gg' forfeit option.

Give the new Crazy King a chance. It was previously my most hated mode but the concept works really well 8v8, with action on every flag, splitting the ball blobs for potential momentum swings.

Until zos comes up with a proper ranking/mmr system I'm 100% against it. God forbid I sit with a friend/group in a 15-20 min queue (or more) just to have the enemy team forfeit after first encounter because they lost. That's a totally new level of griefing I'm not on board with. There are even groups who already on purpose only let 1 person accept the queue to see who they're up against (while the rest of the group doesn't accept queue), and depending on who they're fighting then decides if the remaining part of the group accept the queue or not (yes some of the eso pvp population is that cringe).

At the end of the day, the problem that ZOS forgot to fix when reworking BG's is to make a proper ranking/mmr system.

I think the idea would be for the forfeit option to only be available after a given threshhold.
