Can the first boss in Red Petal Bastion be done with a companion?

I'm is the process of slowly collecting the lore books that I missed. It turns out I do not have a lot of books from Library of Incunabula (DLC dungeons). It's not surprising since no one visits side rooms/nooks and crannies when running in a PUG. So, I'm just going in order with a tank companion.

Is there a way to get past the first boss in the Red Petal dungeon that turns a random player into a goat? Since I'm the only one, I'm the goat all the time. I tried once, managed to get him to low health by using HAs and landing an occasional ultimate between being a goat but got killed. It was very tedious, and I would not like to do it this way again. So, is there a strategy to do it?

Very easily done solo or with a companion.

I say solo, because honestly, your companion (even as a tank) will die pretty quickly in this fight.

But, the goat mechanic is super simple. Just eat the sweet rolls and run away. And ult dump immediately on the boss or portal every time you come out of the mechanic.

Honestly, the only thing the goat mechanic does that is frustrating is it makes the fight take forever. It isn't actually difficult.

I'm OK if your idea is to learn how to finish the dungeon solo, but go get books with a random group on the pledge day and there's no problem

Maybe use a polymorph, you can do that in one of the other dungeons on the last boss and it works.

That is exactly what I was doing. Except I could not dump an ultimate every time since I had to HA sometimes to make it available. As you said it was not difficult, but it was very frustrating when I died after all the time spent on running around. I just hoped may be there was another way to do it that I was unaware of. This mechanic might be fun in a group but solo it's definitely boring. I see what I can collect from other dungeons and leave the tedious ones for later.

i was able to keep the companion alive mostly by having them as a ranged dps, they generally wouldnt be on top of any aoes, and most of the npcs were focused on me

i would agree though being goated constantly just makes the fight take forever

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

The problem is that UESP that I use to get the locations of the books does not have the exact locations on maps for this particular dungeon but only descriptions of where they are. Like "in the Ayleid ruins off to the side before the Vault". So, I would have to wander off to find those spots. By the time I find the exact spot I will be pulled to the next boss fight. So, I'm trying to get as many books as I can by myself. Besides, after completing several dungeons I found it fun to wander around by myself, so I will leave the ones that are not doable by myself for PUGs and hope for the best.

Edit: I just wish that the side bosses in some dungeons would not require other players to reach. For example, I was disappointed that I could not operate the daedric flames in the Dread Cellar by myself.

Unfortunately, that would not make the fight any shorter. And that was my hope for the post. So, I will try again later when I'm more in the mood for tedious stuff.

it helps a little bit since they can keep dmging the boss while your goated, but even an optimized companion is usually on avg about 10-15k dps tops which only does so much

doing this fight on a tanky character i think it took me almost 10 minutes to kill him, even keeping the companion alive most of the fight

Have you tried creating a group using the group finder.. With the groups main reason to run the dungeon for book collection?

I'm sure another person or two would be willing to help you do the dungeon to collect books, maybe even so they can collect them themselves.

I personally find the group finder perfect for things like this. I always find someone who's usually willing to help me out or vice verse, I love joining someones group when they are on a specific hunt for something.

It would take a lot of time to find someone with such a specific goal. Besides, I developed a taste for running around dungeons on my own. I just hoped that there is a faster way around this boss besides the obvious tedious one.

if you needed a partner for dungeons (and on PC NA), i wouldnt mind helping (ive solo'd a majority of the dungeons in the game so i know where the pain points are)

usually even running in a 2 person group still makes instances like this progress significantly faster

i also occasionally like to explore the nooks and crannies in the dungeons, sometimes find some interesting things lol
