Players with a flag in the back.

ines2015
ines2015
Today I've been constantly matched in groups with one player with a flag in the back. Those players have constantly a huge circle of something red like fire that causes me a lot of confusion. I've been asking them to turn it off but they say it's a buff for the group. I usually go away from it because it's easier to see if I'm not inside. Anyway, I tried to be inside but I found no use or need for it. Looks more like something for players who like to stand out. Nothing against it, I realize that many like that, but it would be nice to be able to turn off these visual aesthetic aspects when we are in group activities. So, I was wondering if there is any way to make these effects invisible. This way, everyone could play the way they like without interfering with other people's gameplay.

You can change the color for friendly effects in your game settings.

I imagined it was something new because I had never seen it before. The flag on the back is ok, it doesn't bother you at all, but the circle of fire or whatever is exaggerated. It greatly disturbs the vision and serves no purpose. It could perfectly be invisible or only visible to the player using it.

The problem is not the color. It's the size and duration. I've played with players who put up with this the entire time in a dungeon and it shouldn't last more than a second. It disturbs visibility immensely. Not practical for other players. We already have so many effects, it's just another one to confuse. It would be nice if we could make the effects of other people's skills that we don't want to see invisible, to clear up visibility in action a bit. Changing color is irrelevant.

As a stop gap there may be a color/brightness combo you find less intrusive, I don't recall what all the options are but it is the only option I know that we can access right now instead of waiting for a game update to (maybe) be implemented.

banner bearer is a toggle ability, so it effectively is going to be always on until the user turns it off or dies

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

Maybe making it black or very dark would help. Can we make it black or darker? This is how it looks now when there's not much confusion. Imagine it when there's action. It's big, it lasts too long (usually never disappears), it's very disturbing:

The reason it’s good to be visible to group members is that it’s a buff for the group. If you’re avoiding their circle, you are actively choosing against getting a buff from your group and thereby not playing as a team.

The Banner Bearer skill is most similar to the Spaulder of Ruin mythic in that it can buff the damage (or other features) of nearby group members.

While you can put in a bug about visibility if it is overpowering, I would caution against getting mad at people who are essentially nerfing their sustain to buff your DPS.

Damn! That's terrible. So it's why it never disappears. At least now I know I should never res a banner bearer when they die.

This is not entirely correct. In the last dungeon I played, I always avoided the circle so I could see better and still managed to do most of the damage. So, it is also possible to help the group without joining the circle. I think it was worse being there in the middle and losing visibility.

It should definitely be one of those "Ignore Ally Effects" skills where you can see your own but not those of others.

The Arcanist in the pic you post above use Banner Bearer Grimoire with probably Class Mastery script, allowing Crux generation every 5 seconds even if they do nothing at all. It's a very powerful grimoire for certain support indeed. Unlikely the person will take it off or toggle it off.

If it's vision issue on your end (I grouped with a few and experienced no issue, maybe different scripts), like other users suggested, you can try tinkering around with the color and brightness.

They could make the effect a little smaller, but it needs to be visible, so you know where it is and can stand in it.

The problem is some of those ally effects give you a buff for being in a specific area, which you can't do if you can't see them.

well its not "enabled" as soon as you slot it, its more like the ability guard or a sorc pet, it has to be toggled on to function, but as the toggle itself has no actual cost (it just penalizes your regens), they can keep it toggled on as long as they want

Yeah I run it on my DK when not running around as a wolf. Provides some nice buffs to anyone in the aoe.

Yep. That's even worse and quite ridiculous. That's another reason to be far from that aoe. And the buffs it provides doesn't even justifies everything it's damaging visually in gameplay. Most likely I'll try to group more with guild mates to avoid it.

It is much more likely that I will enter that aoe if it is not disturbing my visibility, than if it is so forcingly visible and bothersome that it makes me move away, as has always happened and will continue to happen.

Should be "visiblity" slider, for how strong you would like effects like that to be

That's a really nice idea. But it's probably harder to implement than an on-off toggle. I'd be ok with just a toggle to "Ignore Ally Effects" (as mentioned before), but a slider would please many more players.

I don't like the visual either... since the arcanist class got introduced, I think the game has had a lot more intrusive visuals than before, all the arcanist skills, the grim focus perma glow, the flashing recall actions, etc., and I find them a bit tiring on the eyes, especially after playing for a while. I wish we had options to turn some things down or toggle them on/off.

I am so sick of being visually assaulted by bright flashy effects. This game is turning into a cartoon and has lost a lot of the realism that once drew me in.

Please give us a way to disable all the flashy and loud effects from other players so we can play without being bombarded by all these.
