Vile Manse - Lower Level Walled off Passage Through

One passage where the bottom level loops around now has a giant boulder in the path blocking the way through. When did this happen and is it a bug or intentional? You can still go the long way around but now it is a pain to retrace the steps back each time. I did not see anything about it in any patch notes or searching the forums.

    That is the chamber where Graccus and the Oghma Infinium are located when doing the The Waking Dreamer quest. Is he even there if not doing the quest?

    Yes, you can still get there going the north path. But this passage way also used to be open. That is why I was wondering if this boulder now being here blocking the path was a bug or intentional by the devs for some reason.

    as someone who farmed the vile manse basement on repeat when i was a new ESO-er, i can assure that the path mentioned used to be open, though the last time I was in there was probably ~5-6 months ago.

    If i had to hazard a guess, Id say they resized an asset for gold road and it has now blocked this path

    (i commented about this sort of thing awhile back elsewhere, but basically many games utilize assets [ex: ReapersMarchBoulder_42069] and place this boulder all over. however, in the name of saving memory many games will use old assets in new areas, but resize it to fit [ex: this mountain needs *something* right here, this ReapersMarchboulder_42069 is just too small... lets increase its size by 10%]. this leads to many situations much like what you see pictured here. I cant claim that i know for a fact that ZOS uses this type of programming, but many other games do, and pretty much after every update in ESO you can find stuff like this- i believe i commented on some cyrodiil waterfalls/rocks back in march getting misplaced after an update, but if you look around after new content updates, you will almost always find this sort of stuff, just not usually so bad as a whole path blocked lol. or maybe theyre adding content with Mora, since hes the theme lately and that dungeon is about him)

    I did the Vile Manse a couple of hours ago. It's hard to see how the placing of that boulder can be an accident, but it's been very sloppily done. Light shines under the boulder from one side to the other.

    It doesn't seem to have any purpose other than nuisance value.

    Yes you could go both ways and the southern is a bit shorter.
    It makes no sense to make an dead end here. You only need to get down for the quest. And to get out without porting getting the skyshard.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    This was my go-to farming spot for a long time to get EXP for new characters, because the top area of the Vile Manse always had too many people. You get extra gold from the Imperial NPCs and if you're farming it by yourself the mobs respawn in perfect timing when you do a full rotation of the lower level. I think this was a hidden change included with Gold Road, but it doesn't make any sense as to why it was included. It offers nothing but a hindrance to both EXP farmers and new players that decide to take the bottom path.

    I'm unsurprised by this one.

    But, log a ticket if you think its a fault. It won't get into the Jira queue otherwise.

But I went there again on a character that completed the quest way back and it is blocked. I also went there on a new character after just completing the quest and it is still blocked. So, I do not know where you got your information but it is absolutely not true. Either it is an unexpected bug for some reason with rock resizing or maybe it was done purposely to stop experience farming. Either the case, I would at least like to know but more so would also like it to get reverted.

    Last time I was in there (a few days ago) and during previous runs, that wall would be blocked off during the quest. After finishing the quest, leaving , and coming back, the bocked off wall is gone

    EDIT: ran the place on a toon who'd also completed the quest a long time ago and the way is clear for me.

    PPS: It's been that way forever. Try completing the other quest in there, leave, come back, and see if that fixes it for you.

    I have done the quest there on 8 toons and never saw anything like that.

    I've definitely been able to go that route before, I did the PD on 3 characters couple months before U42 and the path was not blocked and has never been before. I did the PD couple days ago and found the path blocked off as well. Very weird... But I've also seen weird changes in delves where stuff I know was not floating, is now floating etc. I've done all the base game delves and PDs at least like, 25 or more times since I've had several lvl 50 characters I've deleted but who had fully completed each zone's skyshard hunts... I have photographic memory so I notice these things immediately.

    I just took a character there that had done the quest years ago. The passage is blocked off for me.

    I just tried exactly what you said on a character made after the Gold Road expansion release and it did not work. I entered the Vile Manse. Completed both the Spinner quest and Hermaeus Mora quest. Left the public dungeon. Came back and the area within the lower level is still blocked. If it wasn't intentional then it is bugged. Though I have never seen that passage blocked in all my many times down there.

Everyone else here seems to confirm it as well. I want to know if you are in the correct public dungeon, Vile Manse in Reaper's March zone, and in the exact spot I am in based on two screenshots I provided. Can you post a screen shot with the same map location I am at and another screen shot of that location spot being clear?
