Frequent connection losses since a couple of days

I have had daily disconnects since months but now the connection losses really increased in frequency since a couple of days. That is really weird.

It starts with the game working normally except that it is slow on accepting input from me. A few seconds later the game freezes and I am disconnected from the server. A re-log results in an "unexpected internal error" message and I have to wait a couple of minutes before being able to log in back.

    For the daily disconnects: Check to see if your router does not re-make or re-build your connection every x hours.
    For the increased frequency of disconnects: Check to see if your router isn't overheating or broken. Try replacing it with either another router, or try ESO without a router for a few days, to see if it clears the disconnects. That way you can pinpoint the problem(s) better.

    For the game slowing on accepting input: Could be a broken or overheated router, or packets being bounced back and forth(network congestion). Check the router settings for these things, and as stated above: Try ESO without a router for a few days.

    My guess is your router is having an issue, try gaming without a router for a few days. Hopefully you get this resolved soon.

    PS: After getting disconnected, you are still logged in. It takes a few minutes for the server to notice you are no longer connected before it will actually log you off. After which you can log in again. If you try to log in earlier then that, you will get various error messages.

    How do I not use a router if mine is equal to my access to internet?
    If you only have the device(modem) provided by your ISP, then you can't. As that is your modem, and you wil need this device for internet access. You will have to check the settings on that device though, to see what may be causing your issues.

    Personally I use the ISP's modem, and a gaming router in between that and my pc(devices). Plugged into the fastest/first modem port on the ISP's modem. But I do not use the ISP's modem's wireless, and try not to plug cables into that ISP's modem directly. All my internet access goes through my gaming router first, this way I can control it 100%. So I basically placed my heaviest bandwidth usage and filtering of packets and bandwidth limitations for each device on the gaming router to process. The ISP's modem is only used as a passthrough, making it not matter how good or bad that ISP modem is at performing it's tasks. This prevents issues if your ISP provides a weak or easily overheating device. And you will basically have a double security, your ISP's modem's security and your own router's security.
    **Note: Another benefit is, if your ISP ever replaces your modem, you will only have to replace that device and reset your own gaming router once for everything to function again. You won't have to reconnect every device to the new ISP's modem's wireless again.**

    Do you play other games, OP? Is your connection stable in those other games? If so, it’s likely not your modem or your router, and you’re likely suffering from the ESO-specific connectivity problems many of us are experiencing (including people who work in networking for a living).

    That’s right, an entire raid prog group kicked to login! It’s very unlikely that twelve routers decided to overheat at the exact same time.

    Just to note, not every game requires a stable connection. Many actually don't. Some games only connect every xx seconds or minutes, so these won't be affected by a short disconnect or multiple short disconnects. You would have to try other games that also require an MMO-stable type of connection. Mainly other MMO's.

    Not true. Except for the occasional rare 999+ ping issue, I am NOT experiencing any disconnects whatsoever! On both PC EU & PC NA, and I have been online for 4+ hours at times. There is nothing wrong with checking a connection. At worst you lose some time, at best you solve the issue(s) or even improve your overall ping. Even if the issue may end up being on ZOS's end.

    It's easy to jump on the "It's ZOS's fault"-bandwagon, even if the issue for some players may not be related to an issue the server may be experiencing. It's better to investigate and be 100% sure, instead of simply saying it's ZOS's fault. When there is a chance it isn't!

    Personally I am not shifting blame. I'm just trying to make sure everything on the user's end is checked thoroughly, just to rule it out. There is no harm in checking a connection, as stated above. Troubleshooting may even end up showing ZOS what may be causing the issue(s), if they are on ZOS's side.

    PS: People years from now may see this thread, and the advice may still be useful to them. Even if the issue some are facing right now may be on ZOS"s side, and is fixed by then.

    On PC there are maybe others reason e.g. add-ons.....

    On console i had often problems with the connection in ESO. First of all i checked my side, next step i checked other games. Only ESO had those problems so it was clear for me that the problem/s was not on my side.

    I dont want to study IT to play the game. Saw a lot of those thread where people explained others how they set their settings to play the game. Dont get me wrong those ideas are helpful but not all of us are experts many of us just start the game and want to play. If it dont work several times you will quit the game

    I would suggest that it would be more helpful to start out a response to people having connectivity problems with something like “a lot of players are experiencing connectivity problems right now” and then link them to the very, very, very long thread… but follow up with “however, it’s important to rule out internet issues on your end, if you have not already done so.” THEN give your advice. By just focusing on potential user-end issues, it gives the impression that you don’t acknowledge that so many people are having lag and connectivity issues with ESO and ESO alone. Other MMOs are fine… I’ve been playing one of them instead of ESO, in fact.

    It is very difficult to find the cause of network problems from a personal environment. Multiple factors are involved in a complex way. The PC from which you are connecting, the ISP, the connection path, and the server conditions at the destination. However, I have never experienced any inconvenience with any MMO or network service other than ESO. In my environment, ESO has been disconnecting me frequently since about 6 months ago.

    Never said the problem couldn't be ESO, that is reading something into my post which isn't there. The OP made a separate thread and had/has multiple different issues, so in that case I'm going to assume the OP assumes his issues are not related to the other thread(s) and respond to each of his/her separate issues. So I responded to each of the OP's issues separately one by one. It is up to other people to link threads or speculate or assume or bandwagon blame, all I'm doing is aiming my troubleshooting/expertise directly at the problems before me. Reading more into my post or thinking my post isn't helpful, is on you and you assuming things beforehand.

    By focusing my troubleshooting on end-user issues, which was intentional, I did two things: 1: The OP can check if any of the mentioned fixes work for him/her, potentially fixing his/her issues straight away. 2: If his issues prove related to an ESO or ESO server related issue, he won't have to do anything for it to get fixed. Simply wait for ZOS to fix it, so there was no need to mention this. At worst he would have checked a connection that is already working fine, at best his issues are solved and/or he improves his ping/connection stability.
    The danger of assuming the issue(s) are with ZOS/ESO is that the OP may forfeit troubleshooting while the issue(s) may very well be on his/her end. Meaning even after ZOS/ESO may fix a potential issue on their end, the OP would then still have issues on his/her end.

    Therefor I directly addressed the OP's issues, with an open mind and without any judgement.
