Hard drive dying; files transfered to new HD; game files not transferred

I've been playing ESO for 9 years. My hard drive needed replacement before total failure. The tech who transfered my files to a new HD did not include eso files. When I start the game now, I start at the character creation screen as a new player. Is there a chance that I can missing game files from support? I strongly suspect I'll have to swap back to the old drive and redo the file transfer correctly.

it sounds like it didnt copy over any of the pertinent stuff that elder scrolls saves in your documents folder

stuff like usersettings.txt, keybinds, addons, etc

these are usually saved on your C drive in your documents folder, but you can install the game on any other drive on your computer

those are usually what controls a lot of game settings, such as if you have tutorials enabled or whatnot

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

First, check if you connect to the correct server.
If you normally play at PC/EU, but remove settings.txt file it could happen the game client connects to PC/NA and if you have no characters there - you experience new character creation scene.

To keep settings you have to backup your \Documents\Elder Scrolls Online folder from the profile on the old disk, and its contents including subfolders, and copy files under your current profile on a new disk - same folder location.
If video is broken - rename ShaderCache.cooked into ShaderCache.bak in the \live folder under \Documents\Elder Scrolls Online and the client will re-create it next launch for your new GPU shaders.

Characters are stored on ZOS servers, not personal hard drive. You are almost certainly logged into wrong megaserver or PTS or something. You literally can't lose game progress with anything that happens on your side.
