Explorers Event Broken?

When the event started, I was getting 2.5k - 4k+ Companion XP from each trash pull in Skyreach catacombs. This was with head-to-toe training gear, a 150% XP scroll, and heartland's conqueror. I leveled Azandar from 14 to 20 in great time.

This morning (10/12/24) I'm barely pulling 1.7k XP. Same setup. There was another thread reporting underwhelming XP gains earlier last week. Is the issue intermittent?

Was it possible you were enlightened at the time and now that has worn off for the moment?

Check how many XP you would get for the daily random dungeon. If its 202k everything is fine.

As far as I remember enlightenment is not ever taken in consideration by Companion XP...

Edit: I'll Add that Companion XP is influenced by the Rapport status, so if OP's Azandar had max rapport he would level faster that another one which hasn't max rapport.

You get 400k enlightenment a day,and if not used it caps at 4.8m,and once runs out you lose the boost til the next day.So doing alot of higher xp things like running random dungeons,battlegrounds,etc can burn throguh it fast.

It was almost certainly enlightenment. That's frustrating. It's wild how much of a difference it makes.

If enlightenment isn't a factor, then it's rapport. I got Azandar to 20 and switched to leveling Sharp, who is at base rapport. That's ALSO an insane difference. Crazy.

I leveled a companion weapon line from 0 to 20 in 1.5 hours with max rapport (usually it's around the same time to level a companion) but it would have taken double the time prior to when they made so that rapport increases XP gains, so yeah it makes a difference for sure. Not sure if the amount of difference you reported is justified or if there's something else going on there... 2.5K to 1.7 would be ok, but down from 4k seems excessive... Were you the first time in a group with a high CP player? That increases too.

No, solo all the way. If Enlightenment does apply to companions that would explain that difference. All I can find on the subject online is that for every point of XP you get, they get 25% of that value (so our sum XP gains aren't affected by companions).

If that language is accurate, enlightenment should apply. It increases your XP gain for a limited amount of XP. The sticking point might be that companions don't consume enlightenment; they simply benefit from it.

So a double whammy of losing enlightenment and having lower rapport with Sharp is likely causing the huge difference.

Enlightenment did not apply towards companion xp for a very long time, despite the wording of the official notes. I haven’t checked it recently, though.

Enlightenment has absolutely no effect on XP gain. It just changes the rate at which XP gain converts to your CP. So of course it doesn't affect companions, who don't get CP.

Also remember that companions are getting their XP only from kills, not quest completions, etc. The boosts affect XP gain for the player from all sources, but the companion only benefits in combat.

I can confirm that it is NOT enlightenment. I just tested with a few trash pulls in Skyreach Catacombs, and found the same amount of experience with refreshed enlightenment as without.

That leaves the only difference being rapport, which is astounding to me. I guess they really want to incentivize building rapport over grinding XP.
