[Bug] - Block Dropping/Intermitent

While pressing to block or already holding block, there is a delay and/or intermitment applying of block.

It almost feels as though the mouse button is broken and not registering the click - however I have tested the mouse using various software and other games, and the lack of repsonse/intermitent response is only happening in ESO. Other players I know are also experiencing the same problem.

This is the latest in a long line of block bugs, and it is not overstating to say this is game breaking. One unblocked heavy attack = death.

Can I make the suggestion, that you consult the player base on the idea of making block a toggle. It would surely put an end to this persistent problem with block.

I just finished Vet Banished Cells 1 and while fighting High Kinlord Rilis I noticed that his ranged attack went right through block and knocked me down. I was definitely holding block the whole time, I even have an addon that shows "Blocking" on the screen while block is activated. And I've also noticed a few instances where certain mob attacks that should be blockable seem to be getting through block as well.

But I do not want block to be a toggle because that would be horrible for controllers... While using an Xbox controller we have to press LT (block) + RT (light attack) to bash/interrupt/break-free, and LT (block) + A (jump/interact) to dodge roll. Having block as a toggle would definitely cause more problems for controllers than it would solve.

Seems like desynch - which would be another manifestation of the long-standing performance issues.

I've noticed it too: it's not consistently reproducible, unfortunately.

Wouldn't a simple remapping solve the conflict? LB + A for example. Appreciate that may take some getting used to, but block is a fundamental necessity to work when wanted.

Indeed, but a toggle should get around a desync issue.

I think you're overestimating the Gamepad UI and controllers in ESO... There are no unused buttons on controllers, every button is used for multiple different things, and there's a lot of button combinations or "chords". So changing a single keybind can cause other things to not function properly... One time I tried changing the D-Pad Right button's keybind for "Cycle Quest" to something else, but it just caused that button to no longer work in other places... Pressing D-Pad Right to show the Death Recap no longer worked, pressing D-Pad Right + B to show the Scoreboard in Battlegrounds no longer worked, and pressing D-Pad Right + B to show the Housing Menu no longer worked either... So I ended up resetting the keybinds back to default and haven't tried changing them ever again.

Also AFAIK button keybinds can not be changed on consoles because they don't have keybind settings. They can only swap one button with another (e.g. swap LT and LB), but only If their console has the accessibility option, or if they have a third party device/software that allows it. But all that does is make it so that pressing LT fires LB and pressing LB fires LT. It doesn't even change the button prompts in-game because it's not handled by the game it's done by the system/device/software.

I agree that block is a fundamental necessity because I tank veteran content, so I know how important it is for it to work properly. But how about they just fix the game and servers instead of trying to come up with other things that would cause more problems...

Toggle skills are lame and are not fun to use. And for a core combat skill like block it would be even worse to use. Just imagine trying to toggle on/off block but it doesn't work when you press the button because of lag/desync... No freaking thanks.
