[QoL REQUEST HOUSING] Introduce checkpoints

I request to introduce the possibility to set "last checkpoint" of a house configuration to which I can revert to in case I need to within ONE active house building session.

This should work as follows:

I have a house that I am quite satisfied with but not sure if this is the final one. I have a few ideas how to modify but I don't know if it is an actual improvement over what I have right now.

Now I should be able to sett ONE single checkpoint that saves the house as is. Now I will start modifying it. In case I see that my ideas for modification are not really working out well, I can revert to the state my house had been when I set the checkpoint.

Of course I know that I can do this by pressing multiple times Y for removing previous steps. I would have to remember myself how many and which modifications I have to revert to come to my desired house setup. It also does not work when I use this function several times. For instance I have a setup that I want to modify. I proceed to implement let's say 10 modification but during this process I remove 3 steps and start from there to continue with 10 other modifications. But then I see the entire thing is going into the wrong direction and it would be better to start again from the last point where I was happy with. It would end up in a complete mess and here a checkpoint would help tremendously.

Of course when I travel outside my house this checkpoint would be removed and set to the state of the house the moment I left it.

If you are on PC Essential Housing Tools addon will save back-ups everytime you leave your house, up to five iirc.

You can then just press one button to reset to a previous state, ofc the furnishings from that save need to be available to use. 🙂

There is an add on that does this.

But.. there was also an add on that basically did exactly what their Q3 showcase was - more or less.
Will the real LadyGP please stand up.

I would love to have a save for each house on PS. There have been some weird bugs in the past where other players’ houses became corrupted and there is no option for us other than completely redecorating our houses if that happens. That is not a task I would look forward to doing even in one house. My houses aren’t spectacular, but I do put a lot of time into decorating them and carefully placing items exactly where I want them to be.

Wasn't this the tool that allows visitors to basically copypaste your home? At least I have heard rumors about it somewhere in the thread where the new housing feature was discussed...

Anyhow a developer side tool would prevent any such abuse and I think from the current possibility to the implementation of a backup is only a small step.

Now imagine being disconnected from the game after modifying everything.

It is indeed possible to copy/paste whole builds using EHT but it is not that easy to do so.

I recently did a build for a friend and decided to build it first on my account then copy it to his, I found it required quite a lot of organisation to get all the items into his version before I could hit the button to do the paste, also I hit the same issue a few times..... him not having access to items I wished to use, achievement furnishings mostly.

Overall in my opinion EHT has way too many good tools to not use it just incase someone copied my build! 🙂

It would work the same as it works now. At least having one temporary checkpoint and the hope to not experience a disconnect is a large improvement over today's situation.
