PVP/PVE dedicated gear

I’m at a breaking point with ESO and ZOS and their so called “Balancing” which in short means nerfing every set in the game to unusable. All because it excels at one particular thing that usually needs a very certain and determined condition to even work. Yes I’m talking about PvP which doesn’t even make up 10% of the playerbase but yet everybody else has to suffer for it.

tm57z12gpe4m.jpeg

If you’re going to make PVP gear then please for the love of talos look at the image above from a game years older than ESO that made DEDICATED GEAR FOR PVP. It’s literally not rocket science for ever PVP item you have equipped add 2 extra lines like the picture above.

PVP Attack + 10% for weapons and jewelry
PVP Defense + 10% for each piece of gear

It’s literally that simple to not nerf and kill every single pve gear in the game. And make them trash in PvP compared to PVP gear sets available.

I'm really tired of it. I spent hours farming for Azureblight and a couple days later a thread popped up in General Discussions complaining about it being unfair in the new battlegrounds in the next update and then it was quickly ruined on the PTS a couple days later. I'm just glad I didn't have a chance to make any of the gear in the proper traits.

It just doesn't seem worth it to me to farm any sets for PvE anymore since PvP complaints will just get the set ruined.

Incompetence and laziness is why their own solution is nerfing rather than fixing the fundamental problem with the game. But hey what do I know.

    Umm what?...

Azureblight recived multiple nerfs including to no longer work on players so how is any other adjustment of this set even remotely connected to PvP if set was pretty much disabled in PvP?

In reality this set was propably even stronger in PvE than it was in PvP and all numbers adjustments that happened to it are purely PvE related. Just look at Eso Logs, Azureblight is one of the most if not the most popular set atm. Even devs themselves started explanation with
Azureblight has been dominating the PvE and PvP scene in many cases for a while
so claiming that this is somehow a purely PvP related nerf is a bit silly

This take is completely inaccurate and just wrong. Azureblight is not a top set it was literally only used for trash packs in trials. ZOS saw people were completing the new trial too easily because of a niche set like azureblight that was never BIS. Funny how zos only nerf sets people complain about on the forums. Everybody complaining about a set being too OP is from pvpers so yes PvP plays a role in every set being nerfed. Actually ball groups are whining because that set was one of if not the only set besides plague break which was also nerfed because of PVP that it actually had the potential to kill ball groups. So yeah when people run around basically being invincible and suddenly their only weakness is X set. You can bet your ass they’re coming straight to the forums to cry about it and then poof. The set is nerfed. I mean we can do this all day and I show you just how many sets have been sent to the graveyard due to PvP.

I highly doubt you want to publicly be embarrassed though because you had a bad take with complete inaccurate and just false information.

They made it unusable against players and still adjusted its function in PvE. That means that was a very conscious decision and uncoupled from PvP balancing. Just add 1 and 1 together. No reason to be rude to the guy pointing it out.
I don't like anything separating PvE and PvP balance, so I do not condone their change for the opposite reason, but you are just projecting.

How does zos make it unusable in pvp and your logic is pvp has nothing to do with the set being nerfed ? That’s makes less sense than the other guy above. You admitted they killed it in PVP and then said PVP had nothing to do with the nerf.

    cgmc5sjb8kfc.jpeg

Also btw every set that has been nerfed because of PVP is also weaker in pve so not really seeing your point trying to blame pve. Nobody is complaining about a niche set only viable for trash mobs. PVP literally whined on forums about the set and then it was nerfed. Yeah weird coincidence. Totally not been used in pve for the last 5 years or anything. Yeah totally nerfed because of pve. 😂

They made the set not scale if used on players at all. Which already makes it completely worthless in PvP.

In addition to that they also nerfed the base damage of the set and increased the scaling. That part doesnt matter for PvP as its already unusable with the other change. So that part of the change was basically certainly directed at PvE.

But sure keep acting like everyone else is being stupid and like PvP players are to blame for everything

Nerfing sets is (largely) not based on play mode or actual utility. It most certainly targets things have abnormally high usage. It's a shame that high usage and fun go hand in hand.

It is the company's business model to keep people grinding and the best bang for their buck is nerf what the most people are wearing/playing. I'm pretty sure that pitting players of different game modes against each other is just a marketing bonus and not by design but it's foolish to play into it regardless. Nerfing won't go away if a game mode you don't play goes away or is conveniently tucked out of sight with different gear for each mode. It bankrolls the entire experience.

I don’t think anyone is stupid just not in touch with the game. That’s not very nice nor do I look down on anyone. The set was only nerfed after pvp complained about it killing their ball groups. So yes it also was nerfed in pve just like every other set before it due to it being used in PvP so just like their protocol with every other set that has been nerfed it effects pve as well. But zos in a nutshell has no reason to nerf a niche set to begin with. It wasn’t BiS and with the new update is now completely worthless not even useable. That’s my issue and it’s with zos not the players even if they did bring attention to it.

I am one who wishes azureblight hadn't been hit so hard for PvE but there is one thing you said that are just plain incorrect.

Azure wasn't only used on trash fights. While it was not used for every single boss like some people claimed in other posts, it was used on aoe or multi target boss fights pretty often, and was the meta for most bosses in Lucent Citadel and Sanity's Edge.

Not to try and discredit you but those are still not enough pieces of content for the set to still not fall under a niche condition for it to be considered BIS. While I will bite my tongue and say it could’ve been toned down but zos doesn’t tone down anything. They utterly and completely killed the set entirely.

Sure man, posting memes like the one above, calling devs out for incompetence and laziness and saying things like "I highly doubt you want to publicly be embarrassed though because you had a bad take with complete inaccurate and just false information" are definietly not signs of looking down at others.

As for someone not being in touch with the game unfortunatelly it would seem to be You. Claiming that "Azureblight is not a top set it was literally only used for trash packs in trials" is a massive sign of not being up to date with what's happening at the moment. If You go to ESO logs You will notice that in all 12 man trials which we right now have 13, in 39 boss fights required to complete hard modes, 19 of those fights have a top DDs wearing azureblight which makes azureblight top choice in almost 50% of trial boss fights on top of already being a strong trash fight set. Does that sound like a niche set to You or a set that is only used in trash fights? Generally speaking it is literally the most popular and the most effective set used in high end groups atm because simply no other set can beat that 50%. In certain boss fights this set allows to produce more single target DPS on bosses than sets specifically designed to produce high single target DPS.

The set was nerfed because it was overperforming in both PvE and PvP. PvP recived a nerf so that azureblight no longer works against players, PvE recived all the other nerfs. It is true that people on forum usually complain about strenght of something in PvP but You know why? Because only in PvP You have a human being on reciving end. Do You think that trial bosses have forum accounts and they are complaining that certain set is too strong? It's obvious people won't complain when something works in their adventage and since PvE is one sided battle obviously there wont be as many complaints about it as there is about PvP. That doesn't mean developers are not monitoring performance of certain sets with the tools they have. When certain sets pops up in their internal stats as overperforming and overused in PvE they will nerf it even if there were not many complaints about it from PvE playerbase. Azureblight is the best example since even quick visit at ESO logs website, which contains just a fraction of data that developers have acces to, already shows how overused and overperfoming azureblight is in PvE atm.

Well, when 4 or more people in group are using it it's not only the best multi target set in the game, it also outperforms every other set in single target fights. This wasn't widely known, however.

The set wasn't niche. We use it wherever we could get away with it, at least in endgame.

vMoL: trash, and maybe stacked twins burn.

vHoF: Chickens, Triplets, sometimes Spider (depending on strat)

    vCR, vAS: not used

    vSS: Nahvi HM

vKA: not used although I kinda want to try it when stacking Dan on Falgravn...

    vRG: Bahsei HM, sometimes Oax.

    vDSR: Twins, Reef

    vSE: Yaseyla & Ansuul

vLC: all main bosses. Not used on Cavot mink boss.

    No thank you.

I would like ideas like that confined to the McMMOs where they belong. This isn't that game and that is the entire reason most of us play it.

Lets not turn this game into another that none of us want to play. If you dislike the game's balance to the point that you'd want to substantially alter how it works then it's probably not the right game for you.

Sets are nerfed and buffed all the time. That is part of the game and certainly no reason to run in with cleavers and cut off what is likely key parts of how the game works.

It might be a good idea for you to look at things from other player's point of view. Do you really think your idea is how pvp players would want to play the game? How do you know they make up just 10% of the player population? You shouldn't want to negatively impact their play experience regardless of how many they are. And they are likely a more significant part of the population than you realize.

This isn't the game you pulled this idea from. We don't want it to be and that game exists should you want to play it.

They disabled the scaling against players making it already useless in PvP and still reduced base dmg and doubled cooldown to nerf it in PvE too.
They could have also completely disabled it in PvP and let it untouched in PvE if they wanted to nerf it only in PvP and as a solo PvP player I would have preferred that as it will become useless in PvP anyway and would at least stay useable in PvE and show how it worked so players do not come with false information about it later but ZoS decided to nerf it for both PvE and PvP.
Not PvP whined about azureblight but only Ballgroups who are a tiny part of PvP hated by the rest of PvP who are against azureblight nerf.
