Toxic gameplay in cyrodiil

Currently, players can send whispers to others even if they are on that person's ignore list. This means that individuals can engage in trash-talking or harassing behavior without any fear of repercussion, as the targeted player cannot respond. This is particularly frustrating when these players go offline after sending their messages, making it impossible for the recipient to confront them or defend themselves.

Why This Needs to Change:
1. Encouragement of Toxic Behavior: Allowing whispers from ignored players fosters an environment where toxicity can thrive. Players feel empowered to send hateful messages without facing any consequences, as their targets cannot retaliate or respond to them.

2. Mental Health Concerns: Constant exposure to harassment can take a toll on players' mental health. By limiting the ability to send whispers to those on an ignore list or when players are offline, we can create a more positive gaming environment.

Proposed Solutions:
1. Disable Whispers from Ignored Players: If a player is on someone's ignore list, they should not be able to send whispers at all. This simple change would significantly reduce unwanted communication and harassment.

2. Restrict Offline Whispers: Players should not be able to send whispers while in offline mode unless the player is on their friends list. This would prevent toxic players from engaging in harassment without accountability.

3. Communication Restrictions in PvP: Implementing a system where players cannot communicate with members of opposing factions in PvP zones would further reduce instances of harassment and create a more balanced playing field. This one might be a step too far, but it could also help with people coordinating cross faction sabotage.

In conclusion, these changes would foster a healthier community and allow players to enjoy the game without fear of harassment. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this issue and support efforts to enhance our gaming experience by advocating for these changes.

Isn't this already a thing? Anyone I've ever ignored, I never hear from again.

No, I meant that if you ignore someone you shouldn't be able to whisper them.

It's still one of the world's great mysteries why someone in Offline Mode can still send Whispers.

ALL of the most toxic players do it.

Totally. I don't understand how they get away with it or why it's allowed.

I assume it's just an oversight, it's the only game I've played that functions this way.

There's a saying "Communication is a two-way street." And what that basically means is (while having a conversation) "When you speak, I should listen. And when I speak, you should listen." Nobody wants to be part of a one-sided conversation...

So communication in game should work both ways:

    - If we put someone on Ignore, then they shouldn't be allowed to whisper us, and we shouldn't be allowed to whisper them either.

    - If we set ourselves to Offline, then we shouldn't be allowed to whisper anyone since nobody's allowed to whisper us.

It is extremely toxic when a player puts someone on Ignore, or sets themselves to Offline, but continues to whisper other players knowing good and well that they can't respond.

Funny enough I get the opposite happening.

Gotta love the ones that call you a cheater, report you, then continue to spam message you for hours.

That's what the OP was talking about.

The way he states it is that someone gets offended and ignores the supposed toxic player. Then somehow the toxic player can keep messaging. Which isn't possible. It is poor design to still allow the offline or ignoree player continue to message.

Sorry if I have an old school take, but if you cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Just go offline yourself and move on with your life. Nothing more is needed to be done, this is the kind of talk that leads to tbagging getting people banned.

There's no faction sabotage going on.... the campaigns mean nothing now adays. Maybe the campaign would be worth something if zos raised cyro pop and provided actual comparable rewards for contributing to the campaign for 30 days straight.

What is the upside to allowing someone to whisper you while they are offline mode or have you on ignore?
