Ball of Lightning/Hardened Ward Bug

The ball from ball of lightning is counting as a pet. Whenever the ball is up, my hardened ward is not casting the heal for me. I also receive the expert summoner passive while the ball is up, this puts me into execute range faster. This makes PvP much more difficult. I no longer have a snare removal (very bad not having in PvP)/counter to range damage. Can BoL be changed to not count as a pet? Or Ii this functioning as intended?

    i think its always been considered a pet, this is just becoming more problematic when more and more of the sorc stuff is very typed to work different depending on if you have a pet active

    my guess is it was probably missed during the pass to remove "temporary" summons from counting towards the "pet active" passives (such as the atro)

    They have it technically as a pet so the ball absorption works. Think of it as a stationary pet with an infinite healthbar that lasts for the ranged hits.

    Because it was coded this way, sadly it is a pet. I still find it funny that having or not having a pet dictates whether you have max hp or max stats.....When pet builds typically only build max stats.

    Just use Race against time and streak. The 2s of immunity and the ball absorption is a joke. It'll just absorb 3 light attacks, and by the time the streak animation allows you to move, the 2s snare immunity has ended. For it to be worth anything, ball would have to give at the bare minimum 4s of immunity to be functional. To make me ever choose it over streak would be 8s of immunity.

    Dont forget that the streak stun is really the only group utility sorcs get in pvp. Being able to guaranteed stun a large group of enemies helps peel. But sorc's group utility is a whole different rant.....grumble grumble powersurge lol

    Counting as a pet is fine - the problem is it is a temporary pet that is counting as a permanent pet for the purposes of the passive/ward. Only permanent pets are supposed to increase health/reduce mag and change the ward functionality.

    If you want to use Beacon of Oblivion set for the PVE damage increase....today you cannot use Charged Atro, Engine Guardian, Maw of Infernal, ball of Lightning. Even the Bound Armaments floating dagger animations are treated as pets.

    The thread is about the PTS where Beacon of Oblivion and the Expert Summoner passive have been updated to require a permanent pet instead of any pet.

    On PTS, everything you listed except for Ball of Lightning is treated as temporary pets.
