Because it was coded this way, sadly it is a pet. I still find it funny that having or not having a pet dictates whether you have max hp or max stats.....When pet builds typically only build max stats.
Just use Race against time and streak. The 2s of immunity and the ball absorption is a joke. It'll just absorb 3 light attacks, and by the time the streak animation allows you to move, the 2s snare immunity has ended. For it to be worth anything, ball would have to give at the bare minimum 4s of immunity to be functional. To make me ever choose it over streak would be 8s of immunity.
Dont forget that the streak stun is really the only group utility sorcs get in pvp. Being able to guaranteed stun a large group of enemies helps peel. But sorc's group utility is a whole different rant.....grumble grumble powersurge lol
It is a problem.
If you want to use Beacon of Oblivion set for the PVE damage increase....today you cannot use Charged Atro, Engine Guardian, Maw of Infernal, ball of Lightning. Even the Bound Armaments floating dagger animations are treated as pets.
