Players flying around on mounts and barcode's and names that are hard to report

So I saw my first obvious cheater in awhile today in Cyrodiil. There was a solo AD player capping resources in GH, we chased him off and I noticed a DC player show up who was flying around. I thought ok lag at first but this was obvious cheating, and had flashbacks to GTAO level anti-collision cheating. PVP is supposed to at least be semi-competitive but with players just blantantly cheating like this, no wonder PVP centric players are not happy. I myself was just there to get another char to level 1 for transmutes and level some Alliance War skill lines.

This also brings up another issue, reporting names that are jibberish. On PC if you really put effort into it I think you can use hot keys to add them to ignore and then report them perhaps, sadly I didn't have that setup with Toxic Players addon yet.

It is a sad state to see the game in though, I hope these players get nipped in the bum sooner than later. With the lack of response to gold sellers harvesting 24/7, I don't know that this will get much attention but I figured I would share my story none the less. I don't know if the AD player was friends with the DC guy or not, he didn't kill him but did target me. I let him kill me in hopes I could somehow get the account name but I didn't have things setup to do so.

While defending BRK for EP I saw a DC player fly overhead across the keep courtyard, and other plays online at the time saw the same thing. It was very unnerving. No, it wasn't the player falling out of the keep. It was a player moving overhead and in a horizontal direction. A few minutes later during a scroll run - a DC scroll being returned home - I saw in zone chat someone who said there was a player flying in the air with the scroll who couldn't be targeted. I've heard lots of accusations of cheating before and never thought much about it.

When I saw the player they were moving too fast to spot a name. There wasn't time to video the movement and I was dead pretty soon thereafter when the keep was overrun. So there's no question of reporting. But it's really too much for a player to hack the game to that level.

This was in Gray Host campaign around 11:30 a.m. ET 8/26.

Yes, if they are doing that level of cheating who knows what they are doing with duping currencies, items, dungeons, trials, etc.

ZOS could easily check to see what player capped that DC scroll.

Someone that wants to play the game isn't going to be that obvious. Only someone on a throw away account or is actively "burning the bridge" behind them is going to cheat like that.

Yeah I hear it was a long suspected cheater throwing it all away. People feel pretty assured they were right about them and their groups just using more discrete cheats in the past and I can't say I blame them.

ZOS will probably close this thread because they don't want this on forums. But this is a known cheater.

I wish someone would post a video on YouTube of this "flying mount." I mean, I was pretty amazed to see videos showing a bunch of players launching their mounts off of the wall east of Fort Aleswell and landing inside the fort, but that was normal in-game physics. An actual flying mount-- now, that would be something to see.

2 hours ago near a keep in GH US i saw a flying blue player with a ridiculously fast movement speed. At first I thought it was a bug, asked in chat and other players confirmed that yes, Its a cheater player that flyes.

It's still going on? I know people reported at least by Monday. I don't want to tag here as they'll just delete the thread and pretend it never happened

Please send a video of the flying player to ZOS.

ZOS fixed this the last time there was published evidence that player(s) were flying. I read that 43 players were permanently banned. See https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/3023650/#Comment_3023650

And I think they should fix this, once they see it (someone sends them a video).

The name was a barcode, not sure video would make a difference unless the exact @name was captured.

By bar code do you mean the name looked something like "lIIIlllllIIllIIIlllllIIll"? o:)

Yes, a common tactic for cheaters to mask their ID's in online games. combination of random I's and lower case L's, I don't know what tools the gm's have but if they can search the instance for player id's they should be able to spot them and see their blatant memory editing.

I'm glad this was brought up because it reminds everyone that while yes, cheats do exist, they're pretty rare and are extremely obvious when they do happen. Flying, meteor spam, running faster than a max mount, etc.

Im not so sure it says that exactly. Maybe the obvious ones are rare, but it does make one question about less than obvious going on as it clearly exists

if there is one person doing it, there are probably dozens or hundreds doing it discretely.

On PC you can use Bot Scanner 2000 to capture their names and auto report. It still works!

    Oh the irony...

Using an add on to auto report a scammer to the robot ZOS uses to process tickets and auto responds to the report with.

"Let my AI get back to your AI on that" :#

It seems most people don't realize that the cheats that don't get caught are not overtly obvious. They're things like 20% increase in speed, or an auto heal at 5% health, or an armor buff of 5k or anything else that helps dps or survival but is not obvious when implemented.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. The cheats are beyond obvious, albeit rare. However, if zos had their own combat team playing in Cyrodiil to just see how messed up some of this is, it would be a game changer. Auto dodging, auto heals, speed rates, etc. There are thresholds the server checks against, but I believe they are limited. My question is, how is cheating even fun to people? What is the point of it?

"AHHHH MY PIXELS ARE LOSING let me teleport underground while im actively tab targeted, full restore, and come back up with a 500 ult balorgh dawny even though I literally just ult'd 6 seconds ago"

it is rare(at least I think its rare, lately more and more im doubting my own words regarding people cheating being rare, but performance is so bad its hard to tell), but they 100% exist. I can understand cheating in say creative games, where you just want to build a thing and like, cheat in materials. hurts no one, though arguably it is more satisfying to do it legit. I could understand cheating to unlock some things, for example unlocking all of a dungeon set in this game (i enjoy running dungeons a few times but when that necklace hasnt dropped and its your 40th run... I get it). I can't understand cheating for advantages in any competitive natured games, like... the game is the competition... there will always be someone better than you, practice and learn and improve.

But, some people just love to watch the world burn, and so, we have flying people.

Every so often some unknown manufacturer of cheats makes these things and sells them online. Its about yearly with every new expansion.

ZOS has been proactive to squash those using them. I haven't heard about them actually perusing the manufacturers themselves. Yet, its not something that is instantaneous due to the old engine they have.

The Elder Scrolls Online doesn't have a proper anti-cheat. Its designed off the old engine that created The Elder Scrolls Skyrim in which you could manipulate every numerical value. So basically they have to go in and see what you edited on your character and or account for those that cheat the account store.

Still to this day you can do this but I highly recommend not doing so.

There was a guy one time flying around and mortaring people like from World of War Tanks or something , in safe zones. I dunno if the videos are still up on youtube but that one was crazy. I seen that guy first hand in the elf home city. It was insane.

I experienced this one guy jumping over walls into keeps and outposts being invincible among other things.

There was one particular person that would go to places recording for his demo videos for these things he was creating to sell them.

Like I said though , It sometimes takes them time to get those people.

As far as the auto dodging , auto healing, detecting attacks coming in, last night and since probably since the new expansion it would appear that some how besides just hearing or seeing the animations there is probably something new out that alerts people. Back in the day miats would allow you to get all these notifications. It doesn't any more I don't think. Supposedly because the API for this had been removed .

Oh, and the really good ones go into minimal editing which is hard af to find like the guy above said but in more detail its basically a program in which you have toggled that will detect when those numerical values reach (x) when( x) happens it then does (y ) being the programmed response. Before people were getting caught it was hard editing actually editing your character not live editing or changing values on the fly which goes on now.

There are different kind of cheating. You have the obvious cheats that are flying around nuking people, then you have the subtle cheats. The second kind is much more dangerous to the game health. They aren't invincible, they just seem better then then the average player, and the things that seem off, they can always claim lag.
