Think of mage light as a "concentration" skill along with pet summoning abilities. How would it be fair if you could always have your pets out or always use magelight and then have another 5 skills to utilize?

In terms of balancing, that would be very difficult to work around. You get some major benefits with magelight along with using pets, so it requires you to consider what is more important to your different builds.

We can't have it all ;-)

The problem is , this is something that mostly only affects sorcs , so this is literally a balance hit on them.

Could be changed? Sure it can.

But with it, i can assure you , those skills that turn off will all be changed.

Your pets, armor spells, magelight, so on and so forth are all abilities just like any other. They give you a benefit while in use, and often give you a lasting benefit for far less cost than a typical skill.

If you were able to keep them active while changing to a different hotbar that did not require those abilities to be on it as well, you'd literally be gaining an extra 3-4 abilities on top of your other skill bar. That is not balanced.

    What lvl is your Sorc?

Some detailed examples showing why you feel Sorcs can be killed easily would be helpful when making a broad statement like this. Perhaps you are having some issues with your build, or maybe you do not understand how some of the skills work or how to make other skills work with what you have?

Remember, you are not limited to light armor, and I have seen many sorcs wearing heavy and medium, along with using different abilities. There is a lot of variety to every class.

Look at the advantages you getting with the skills you want to use, and then try other skills out as well. Learning to diversify can help.

Sadly, quotes like this are what a lot of people think. In actuality, it could not be further from the truth.

The real problem here is the skill-bar switching (via the weapon swap). The weapon swap is actually very fast - 0.5 seconds. For any skill you could use on the current bar, you could use a skill on the other bar with just a further 0.5 second delay. That is all that separates the two skill bars and thus the skills on them.

However, I mentioned a problem - the weapon swap is very awkward in how it queues and double-tapping. This leads to frustration and time-wasting, which leads to people saying there are only 5 skills. This leads to people saying toggles using one of the 10 skill slots (and not the 5 on the current bar) is unfair, because they don't see the system as having 10 skills slots. Solve the issue mentioned and toggles can go back to how they were originally balanced.

The only way they're going to change the way toggled spells work is to turn them into duration spells.

You dont want to have to put summons on both bars? Fine, your summons will only last 17 seconds. How's that sound?

OK, have them occupy the 2 slots, but then don't permanently handicap max magicka, because that 10% max magicka reduction was supposed to be the cost to having a pet out and not an additional skill slot.

Considering a DK can buff his group's weapon damage and give them extra fire damage for 60 seconds, to hell with your suggestion.

The summons already have their drawback.

    Magelight: 5% max magicka reduction
Each pet is a 10% magicka reduction
Bound Armor is 10% magicka reduction

So if you think you'll have this big advantage, a full secondary bar of toggles just cost you 50% of your max magicka.

1900 hardcapped magicka just dropped to 950 magicka. Stop being so goddamned obtuse and think for a change.

Nightblade shades do less damage than the scamp, clannfear, or twilight. They only last 17 seconds. They do not taunt enemies. Their magicka cost to keep up constantly far outweighs a 10% reduction on your bar.

Try that out for size, and then say it's difficult dealing with sorc pets.

sorc pets are very easy to defeat...a mob hit 2-3 times and its dead.

They're also invulnerable and lower enemy damage 15%.

Honestly , i would bet they are not changing this and just letting the skills cost the same or work the same mate , no point in trying this.

Pretty much every single sorc i see still got the pets , even with the problems you just mentioned ... so im guessing they are not so bad , otherwise most sorcs are just crazy.

So yeah , i could see an increase in cost , like each could take 20% of your max magicka so you cant even have 5 or you get 0% magicka or they would like the DK skills last about 1 min or so.

The fact is , only class that needs this is the sorc , and the sorc is by far not weak and in need of a buff , therefore , i dont see it happening for now.

I hope you now realise - and this is for everyone, because it's not widely known it seems - that the veteran ranks are designed on the whole to be done with others. So of course you're going to find it tough alone and as a consequence your character will fall a lot. That's just the way the game's made, it's nothing to do with class balance/inbalance.
