About the official texture

Is it possible that the official will distribute or add their textures to the video settings in the future?

Looking at the official promotional videos, screenshots, etc., are different from the actual game screens. Is there a special texture for the development team?

*NPCs and objects are clearer, sharpened, and have a little bit stronger contrast than actual game screens.



PS, do similar texture or re-shade mods exist?

    Promotional images are renders, not screenshots from in-game. I’m not a 3d artist but if I were to guess, they’re taking the in-game model(s) but putting it in an environment in an art program where they make the lighting and camera angles more intense.

    Those aren't really in a separate art program, but rather rendered in-engine (not necessarily in-game).

    Chances are that they already have the tools they need in their own editor and engine to reuse environments, place props, pose characters, and apply any existing particle systems, effects, and lighting to create promotional images for ESO.

    Besides, while importing 3D models and textures into a separate program is easy enough, recreating environments, materials, effects, lighting, etc. to mimic an in-game screenshot in outside software takes valuable time and effort.

    If you run ESO at 4K or 8K you can get screenshots that look surprisingly close to what the in-engine cinematics show.

    ZOS seems to have access to higher quality versions of the Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI) setting than we do. As far as I can see, that's the main difference in quality. They're probably not stable or perform poorly, which is why we don't have them available in game.

    There's also some simpler tricks you can use. Depth of field can make any screenshot or video look higher quality than it really is. Those screenshots with a dozen Reshade features look nice, sure. But most of the heavy lifting is done by the DoF.

    First, I would like to thank you all who answered my question. That was really helpful <3

    The answers were that the effect is most likely due to rendering, not texture. And it would be only for the development team.

    The reason I first came to this question is that I noticed a special light source and shading in the character creation screen. And this was very similar to what was used for official promotion things. I felt that it would be nice if players could use and turn on/off this.

    You are right, the detail is very different between HD and 4K, closer to the official one. I will give it a try.

    I found the texture “visually” elevated by simply brightening the “Gamma Adjustment” in video settings. (I'm sure the texture quality hasn't actually changed though.)
    I thought this was the closest to the official promotional renders.
