funny enough the NB i use in pvp utilizes dark cloak because i need the extra healing, which doesnt seem to fall under this new change

my other NB i use for stealthing stuff such as quick heists does use shadowy disguise, will have to see how that plays out, but i already run darloc brae on that character which significantly helps with mag restore anyway

it does seem like an interesting choice to basically "nerf stealth" for pvp play though, it will be much harder for gankers unless they are max range bow ganks that can more easily get out of LOS before the target knows where they are

Even though I hate stealthgankers with a fiery passion, this seems like another one of those nerfs that completely suck the soul out of the game. In this case for the nightblade class. So much has been changed/nerfed/removed for the sake of PvP already, that at this point I'd rather ZOS just remove PvP entirely instead of changing the whole game to encompass it. Or, better yet, separate PvE and PvP balancing!

Instead of changing cloak, change magelight: "Activating magelight on your skillbar allows you to see everything in stealth and invisibility, including enemies, as a nameless and factionless shadowy silhouette for 5 minutes."
This changes the entire way stealth works, makes stealthganking much much harder but keeps the NB"s identity and stealthganking intact. While at the same time gives players a reason to slot magelight, as something taking up a skillslot should be powerful.

PS: The current stealth change will make it even more unlikely for PvE players to ever enter PvP zones, as they would often use stealth to complete their goals(event tickets/quests/endeavours/etc). Including me!

This. The only people that are hurt by this are those crutching on cloak to perma stealth.

If you used cloak sparingly as a tool to combo with or reposition mid-fight, this change does nothing to you.

Nightblade will be just fine in pvp. Saying they will be sent into a death spiral is ludicrous, they will still have 5x the amount of damage that say a Necromancer will have.
This change won't even make Nightblade below A tier, it just removes the crutch of cloak. The numbers of the mag regen nerf could possibly be adjusted but cloak needed to be changed.

I say this as a Nightblade main of 4 years, I've used dark cloak over shadowy disguise and never had invisibility to rely on and never had issues killing players, NB will be just fine.

Cloak is broken next patch. Tried the new changes for a while on PTS.

This is prob the worst change for Nightblade in a few years.

Shadowy Disguise needed no changes beyond bug fixes. None.

They won't die. They will just sit in less obvious spot, hidden. Also... it pains me to realize that cloak nerf will mostly affect casual PvE players, as decent & more experienced players will still be able to stay cloaked potentially indefinitely. Again, the result will be the opposite of the intended one.

Two words "Invisibility Potions", start with invis pots then go to the cloak or visa versa. Get in the game try out some different tactics. Also think of a high magicka resourced NB, don`t get offended just trying to offer some help because this is not going to change. PVP gamers have always complained about NB and have gotten their way this time.

That's correct. Some will adapt to the change but in many ways and like most of the time, casuals will get hit with the most collateral damage from this change. I do also agree with OP in that the Developer comments really aren't helpful and sound like they are strangely out of touch with how invisibility cloak is actually used, predominantly in PvP, let alone a proper use case for it which would come from PvP and would not have anything whatsoever to do with buffing damage in PvE situations.

My main concern is that the toggle will perform badly under laggy circumstances. There seems to be a real risk of accidentally ending up in the state opposite to where you want to be, which either way is likely to kill you. I don't think that's the way to discourage the over-reliance people speak of. Especially because some players will suffer much more than others due to circumstances they have no control over.
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

My thoughts exactly, you get into a fight and the game keeps the skill going draining your resource. That would be bad!

I mean this with the utmost respect, but what on nirn were you thinking ZOS? Some of your patch notes come across as out of touch so some weird changes are understandable, but there's no way that you're unaware of the essential death-spiral you're sending NB into with this in a pvp sense.

If Shadowy Disguise were new, it wouldn't be an issue, but how are you just going to decimate the ability after a literal decade?

I'm sure the anti-NB crowd will be over the moon, and I respect their opinions, but there was absolutely no reason for this. Once more, after 10 years, you're just going to wreck the core part of one of your launch classes?

    Discuss.

Also Icy, if you get summoned here, this thread was made to specifically discuss what is arguably a terrible change and not bait or flaming. The class change feedback thread is nice, but there really isn't an issue w/ a more specific discussion thread.

why should cloak be the only escape tool with no down side? Plus its extremely powerful compared to other similar skills. Although, there are really no other similar skills, just other was to escape from people like streak or mist. But its way stronger than either.

Cloak should of never been full on near infinite uptime invisibility for one class. It should be an offensive skill to set up an attack or to reposition yourself while staying in the fight, or to briefly give yourself a head start in getting away from a fight. Up till now it's been a get out of jail free skill.

And that's why I use Shadowy Disguise to avoid them. If anything, it's easier for them to crouch somewhere they can wait for victims, cloaking as and when they need than it is for a PvEr to travel Imperial City districts questing without being seen.

I've used it, it's basically just doubling the cost and removing regen like block. No other class gets that kind of love from ZOS. So ruining stamblades day pretty much.

This is going to make it easier entry for people to become bomber as they won't need to time the recast. You can effectively set and forget now.

Much better for stamblade to now just be vamp 4. Now you will have everyone on high speed cloak. GG

Here $15, goat mount please. Not gambling or paying 45 : lol :
20% base speed for high ping players.
Streak moves you faster then speed cap.
They should of made 4v4v4v4 instead of 8v8.

You'll also still be pulled from cloak if the projectile is flung at you while casting.
