The objective modes in current live server BGs are woefully unbalanced due to the 3 team format. Because none of the objectives require you to deal or heal any damage at all, the game modes encourage you to avoid encounters and go to unguarded objectives.

This problem would be mostly solved with only 2 teams. If someone wants to build a speedy tank and run from unguarded objective to unguarded objective, they're now putting their own team at a major disadvantage since there's no third team to distract the other enemies. Objective modes should, in theory, encourage much more fighting in a two team format.

I had already selected an answer before I thought about it too much, but this is a good point about 2 teams instead of 3. I abhor capture the relic in the 3 team format but I bet it would be much more enjoyable with just two teams.

my wish for BGs is to have an actual MMR so i dont get constantly matched against sweaty players all the time because ive just been around for a long time lol

i would like to be able to queue for a specific game mode again, but that might put too much strain on the queues as they are, but i would be OK if some people wanted to have a deathmatch queue that is completely separate from the random queue

the problem they did last time when they had a separate DM queue was it was still tied to the random queue, which made 99% of the random queues deathmatches because there was no other specific queues to go into, in order for it to work it has to be a 100% standalone queue

I want to be able to select what I want to play.

My ideal would be like... 80% deathmatch and then occasional objective modes for variety.

It wouldn't be so bad if the queue felt balanced, but at the moment I barely ever get a death match (and seem to crash on load screen when I do!). This saps most of the fun out of BGs for me and I often don't queue and log out instead because I know the odds of getting a mode I enjoy are so low.

This is so theoretical. I doubt they do new BG mode for starters. I doubt they would do anything to BGs at all.

And I forgot to add that what really makes the objective modes difficult is having teams playing like they were deathmatches. I love objective BGs won by teams having almost no kills. So best solution would be to choose

I think a lot of people have misconceptions about this.

I personally prefer death match at all times, but objective based games become perfectly fine when you eliminate the 3rd team.

The problem with capture the relic, domination, etc. is, if two teams are completely engaged in combat and looking to fight each other, then it takes not even just one team, but one player from another team to end the game on their own. If team red is 4v4ing team yellow, and team blue has 3 people that want to fight, thus making it a 4v4v3, the solo player can run a relic by themselves and end the game, never mind an entire team that just wants to run for OBJ and end the game.

With that being said, obj games are good if they are between just two teams IMO. The only issue I find with them is when people decide to go full tank immovable builds just to sit on objectives, but even that wouldn't be an issue in those type of game modes. If the tank was for instance the one holding a relic, eventually they would lose the ability to heal, or have so much damage on them they would die, and at the same time they wouldn't be able to score because the other team would have their relic, and they being the build they are, don't have the ability to kill other people, so if played against properly, the other team would just win.

Either way, DM only or OBJ games are fine to me in a 2 team scenario, I don't think it's something that needs to be worried about.
