ZOS, shed any light on this new AI Monitoring System?

i heard, that apparently there have been reports of people getting flagged for what is being deemed "inappropriate chat behavior" in both public and private channels. These flags have actually led to account bans and suspensions.

I don't think whatever, or whoever, is monitoring this stuff is actually applying the context of RP, but needless to say, this will lead to a massive decline in Mature Roleplay in ESO as a whole unless it's changed. You're pretty much only safe using other online forums and discord for the darker subjects if you wish to RP them right now.

I'm not even sure how to approach RP in game right now, currently, which is horrible, since RP is the primary reason why i chose this game that had a MATURE rating, unlike another game that you don't want us to mention, which only has a Teen rating.

There is another thread about this here that has a response from zos_kevin as well: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/665594/how-will-the-ai-that-monitors-our-in-game-chats-effect-rp/p1

Was hardly a response... but thank you for the heads up about the existing thread. i was so upset hearing the news, i hadn't even thought to sift through all the posts to see.

You're welcome, and yes this is really upsetting, I hope we get more (hopefully good) news soon...

I just want to know if it’s responsible for our latency issues. It would explain a lot.

AI Hall monitor is just making sure your Skills, movements, attacks, and interactions with vendors/NPCs are wholesome! Cut it some slack, its doing the best it can, even if its a little slow! (ignores all of the implied and obvious mature in game themes happening around it).

But seriously, I do wonder if it is part of the problem with the notably declining server performance the past 4 months

Yeah, it really would make a lot of sense. People have been complaining about bogus bans out of nowhere based on whispers / harmless group chat with their friends for a few months now — and the latency problems have also been happening for a few months now.

I’ve posted this in some other threads, but I’ll post it here too: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/openai/how-to/latency
Azure OpenAI includes a content filtering system that works alongside the core models. This system works by running both the prompt and completion through an ensemble of classification models aimed at detecting and preventing the output of harmful content.

The content filtering system detects and takes action on specific categories of potentially harmful content in both input prompts and output completions.

The addition of content filtering comes with an increase in safety, but also latency. There are many applications where this tradeoff in performance is necessary, however there are certain lower risk use cases where disabling the content filters to improve performance might be worth exploring.

If we’re experiencing huge latency spikes because ZOS is relying on AI rather than humans to moderate game chat and enforce TOS, well… I’ll probably end up moving on, because the game is unplayable during those ping spikes.

I actually never put 1 and 2 together, it can't be cheap on resources to scrub chat, my game has been a sideshow the past couple of weeks and that coincides with the speculated rollout.

Is it possible there is a correlation between the AI roll out and the ping spikes? I am not tech savvy enough to know anything about all of that. They just got new servers. One would assume an AI wouldnt lag the servers like that.

For all the understandable outrage about AI monitoring of private conversations, we shouldn't start to blame it for everything under the sun.
Could it have an adverse effect on performance? Yes.
Is it responsible for the game's bad performance in general? Most probably not.

One would hope that they'd have the chat traffic going through a different machine to do it. But for the record, no. Anything involving text is just about the worst thing for performance in a video game.

Hm... I've seen people writing in the other thread that many people have ceased chatting completely, and that the zone chats are almost empty right now. If that's true, the performance should have improved during the last few days?
