It's obvious that no one knows what the Necromancer is supposed to be. Unlike with the Arcanist class there's no clear vision.

Yes. I get that feeling too. Hard to explain that any role it has, has been mediocre…tank, dps, healer. No unique group buffs. I will be waiting so see what these current changes bring, most of which Im happy about.

A DOT class with no sticky DOTs, a burst class with all its burst deleted, it's really unclear what ZOS even thinks this class can do at this point.

I just want necro to be fun. It is somewhat close, but SacBones is awful. It needs be changed. Either that, or they need to change the other morph into a DoT that is somewhat comparable to the buff. Or anything, really. I will take anything.
Necro has gotten much better, what with it finally having actual buffs.
Just a little more. Please, balancing team, you can do it!

If I had to pick I'd rather just have the 5% back on Rapid Rot then some new class dot. There are plenty of non class sticky dots, especially with the revision to status effects. Necro has the strongest version of all of them thanks to Rapid Rot.

True, but I still like the idea of the class having another proper DoT to go aling with the passive. I am also biased; one of the reasons I hate SacBones is that I think the visuals of summoning a blastbones that jumps at and explodes on the caster looks stupid. [snip]

Most of the non class sticky dots are quite bad, especially the new scribing ones. I’d definitely rather have something unique to necro that’s actually decent than another 5% buff that doesn’t affect much in our actual kit.

Think past slottable skills. We can stack Bleed Status Effect more quickly than a WW and its stronger than on a Non Cro WW.

Or, we can play WW and have the strongest DoTs.

I'm a bit unusual here since I always ran Green Bones, I messed around with GLS for a few weeks and forgot about it.

To me the logical point of this passive is to buff Non Class DoTs more than anything. Otherwise it could've just been in the class dot tooltips with no need for a passive.

It’s great necro can be solid for WW but I don’t think the class should be balanced/designed around WW haha. Also, any class can stack bleeds just as fast as Necro with Rending Slashes or Arterial Burst/Blood for blood.

Yep, necro pretty much goes through identity crisi rn. Changes made him from most valuable PvE debuff, PvP stmina burst king, and PvP magicka aoe king into pure pve support, and comlete PvP garbage, and then into decent pve dps, but still garbage for PvP.

Inside my headbalncing i want necro to be a tanky spellcaster, that earns pvp wins with strong dots and playstayle that revolves aroung building up summons damage. It would be cool if necro had permanent summon that grows in power the longer you stay in combat:
For this I imagine a permanent summon flesh atro instead of colossus, with its own ulti - cost 150, on use banish your atro to couldharbour and resummon it on targeted location crashing on the ground stunning all enemies in impact area, dealing damage and applying major vuln.

    Mophs:

    Fetid atro - Has a permanent aura of rot dealing dot damage around atro every second, that deal increased damage to targets based on how much debuffs they have;

Frost atro - Has a permanent aura of frost, that pulses outward dealing x direct damge every time necro crits up to every 2 secs, and aplying minor brattle to all atargets hit.

But for real RN to perform in PvP necro doesnt need that much. It has the numbers actualy, enough to burst anyone, but the problem is that we have 0 relible combos to pull off. On my average build s'n'b frontbar frostbar backbar, using tarnished, nobility, balorg, markyn i have a 16k tooltip on BB, 14.5k on stacked up venom skull, 12+14+16k on colossus.

If we had a single reliable stun and decent enough skull projectile speed the burst would be quite hard. I had some sucsess using collosus ulti into FG fear, but its works only in 50% on the best of my days. Most of the time when I cast collosus peoople start rolling out, i try to fear them, and then, even if it connects sucsessfuly, fear animation on their models starts playing after they already rolled out of colossus aoe.
And it misses 2 out 3 its smashes, dealing no damage, peoople learn my combo and then just stay ready to simply run away from when I try to pull it off again. And the problem that you can never hit FG fear on moving target, its good only defensivly.

I'm also afraid that they would keep pumping buff to areas necro doesnt struggle with, and when needed changes come, necro would be to much overloaded and gonna be nerfed to a dogwater tier again.

TL;DR - Give us a decent realible cc pls, and then solve necros identity crisis.

    Scribing can help a bit:

    Dazing Soul
    Cost: 3780 Magicka
    Target: Enemy
    Duration: 3 seconds
    Maximum range: 28 meters
Effect: Launch a concentrated blast of soul magic at a target.
Deals 2005 Magic Damage to an enemy and stuns for 3 seconds. Beneficial Signature and Affix scripts only apply to you.
Restores 600 Magicka and 600 Stamina.
Afflicts the enemy with Major Maim for 10 seconds, reducing damage done by 10%.

Ah you're right, I should've said "on multiple targets", I think it's only Brutal Pounce and Ruinous which autoproc it AoE, besides the Ult Thrive in Chaos.

Anyhow of course the class shouldn't be balanced around WW, we are only tied for 3rd best maybe, but I don't know why it's so popular to expect a new class dot is going to be substantially stronger than the dozen or so non class sticky dots, and per my recaps, strongest dot in the game seems to still be Burning like it has been for a minute (Assuming you're still a Vamp).

On the other hand I mained sDK the first 7 years of this game and probably if I added it all up did the most damage with Venomous Claw. Although I rarely see that in my recaps these days.

On that point I totally agree with @necro_the_crafter , tanky DoT class, wins through attrition and efficient maintenance of summoning.

Now that DK is the Burst King, let Necro take its old PvP niche as the superlative Pressure Tank. We're getting there.
