The statuette is for ESO+, the pets are for some achievements related to Oblivion portals, so you need to own Blackwood for them (correction: either Blackwood or Deadlands; as long as you can access the portals, it's fine).

    Specifically:
if you have unlocked either the Blackwood Portal Punisher or Deadlands Portal Punisher achievement, you can claim the Flame Atronach Pony Guar pet for free from the in-game Crown Store.
Once you have earned either the Blackwood or Deadlands Portal Punisher achievement, you can claim the free pet from the Crown Store.
Even better, unlock the Oblivion Obliterator achievement by defeating all the bosses found within Oblivion Portals and you can also claim the new Firebelly Shalk pet from the Crown Store as a bonus reward.

    summarised as:
Note: This item's Crown Store availability may vary based on platform and in-game progress.

It's still "free" to players who meet the requirements. If we want to quibble about "free, but not really free" versus "absolutely free in all conceicable ways," then nothing in the game is free, because even if ESO were a free-to-download and free-to-play game that required no purchase at all, we still need a computer or console to play it on, plus an internet connection, and those things cost money. And while some people will try to argue that those things are "essential" items which everyone is going to have anyway, that doesn't change the facts that (1) not everyone has those things and (2) those things cost money.

    Thanks for the clarification.

The marketing deception I was referring to still holds though. If you have to buy something to get something else, that something else isn't free. In this case it's not just buy blackwood or deadlands, you have to have spent enough time in those zones to have done most of the questing in those zones to get the "free" items. So these items not only cost real money, they cost the time it takes to complete quite a few achievements in the zones after they've been purchased, which is an additional cost in addition to the real money to purchase the zones.

uh, yeah. THAT's the easy part. accessing the portal.

Did One Oblivion portal when it was an Endeavor. They are Not set, so you have to run around and find one that is active.
Then you get to do wave after wave wafter wave of bad guys, and some of us are Not level 50/160 with complete gear sets.

That is as many as I ever want to bother with.

It's a bit burdensome, but there are some things that make it easier:

If you're a member of a guild, browse their member list and teleport to someone who's currently inside the Atoll of Immolation. I'm in one big trading guild, and so far, no matter at which time of day, there were always at least 2 or 3 people at the right location. And I've done that quite often now, for the "close one portal" daily endeavor that shows up every 2 days or so (it's getting a little boring, but it's done fast, at least). It has always worked out like this.

Inside the Atoll, you can actually avoid most enemies (in case they're even there - often, someone else has already killed them) by sneaking or running past them. The boss right in front of the tower spawns so slowly that until it has fully materialized and could be triggered, I'm already behind it and stepping through the door. So, no fight neccessary.

And lastly, inside the last room with the portals, you can just camp. You don't have to run through the whole thing repeatedly. Just stay there, wait for the final boss to respawn. Each kill will count as "one closed gate". Repeat that until you have the achievement (or until you're bored, have to log off, whatever - although I think logging off results in leaving the Deadlands).

I feel like this is a miserable train of thought to live by.
It’s like if I cooked a ton of food for Thanksgiving and then someone tells me no, I didn’t do anything because I didn’t sit on the egg and raise the turkey, I didn’t grow the veggies, I didn’t build the oven, therefore I can’t take responsibility for providing this huge dinner for everyone…

As another poster said, the pets are a bonus. No need to overthink it.

Got these on two accounts, neither had done any real questing in Blackwood or Deadlands

Used Guild Roster/Friends List to port to someone already in an Atol of Imolation, no searching for Portals necessary!

For the Oblivion Punisher achievement I just camped Boss room until it was done, plenty of other people there doing the same tbh.

For the Oblivion Obliterator achievement I found a boss spawn point and camped that, these bosses have 559k health and are not typically too difficult. I did do this one over a couple of days as repeat bosses are definitely an issue! 🤣

    Semantics.

"Buy one get one free" - the first costs money, the second is a free bonus for buying the first. It doesn't cost you extra to get the second, that's why it is free. Do you get the free second one without buying the first? No, but that still doesn't mean the second one costs you anymore money, and therefore falls within the generally accepted definition of free.

As to the OP: Yes these are some nice items that I don't have to pay any additional money for (aka free within the generally accepted definition).

"You can have it for FREE" (but it requires purchase)

"You have a 100% CHANCE" (but it's not guaranteed)
