Launcher Excessive I/O Usage...

Ever since the latest update to the Bethesda/ZOS Launcher (on Steam), the launcher itself uses an extremely high level of I/O with a constant activity of 20-50 MB/s on Read channels and 10-25 MB/s on Write channels. And I mean *constantly*; it never settles down.

I can't help but assume that this is precisely why the game itself (eso64.exe) fails to properly load half the time.

Seriously, WTF is going on with the launcher? There is *no* justifiable reason for this.

You can send in a report regarding the excessive usage with the link here.

Are you getting any specific error messages when the game fails to load?

No error messages. The game client begins to load, then just a blank, black screen for eternity that also prevents *any and all* screen access to other programs.

I can, for example, open Task Manager, but then cannot *view* Task Manager in order to use it. Alt+F4 does not terminate the game client, nor does right-click + close program from the Taskbar (oh, yeah, I can view and interact with the Taskbar and Start Menu, but it's pretty useless in this state except to initiate a system Restart). In these cases, I am forced to Restart my PC in order to use it at all, for anything. This happens approximately 50% of the time.

While I appreciate you providing the link to submit an official support ticket, I avoid using ZOS support unless I have no other option; they are quite literally the worst tech support I have ever dealt with in my entire 46 years of life (and I used to work as a tech support technician for a company that *required* us to lie to our customers, so when I say ZOS is the worst, that's no small thing). I'd much rather check with the forums to see if anyone has had a similar issue and found a resolution for it *first*, before submitting a ticket to ZOS.

Anyway, considering the fact that I have these issues even after a fresh reboot (both of them), it suggests either a conflict with one of my primary background programs, such as antivirus (which I sure as *** am not turning off), or a problem with the game itself (launcher and/or client). I haven't explored this possibility yet. I might have the time and inclination to do so this coming weekend.
