Personal chests and material nodes?

This is a general post and not crafting specific ... but since there is no 'general' category I thought 'Crafting Discussion' came closest ...

I can't understand why the the chests and crafting material nodes aren't personal.
All combat (enemy) loot is personal, but 'exploration' loot is not.
The devs want us to go off the beaten path and explore, but a lot of times you're discouraged from doing just that.

'Hey, I see a chest\node\whatever ... cool ... argh ... somebody else beat me to it ... not so cool after all'. Or you have to fight an enemy to get to it ... and somebody ninja's it. Or somebody ninja's your chest just when you picked it. And so on.

I just played Khenarthi’s Roost in a very early (European) morning so naturally it was very quiet. I couldn't believe how many chests\nodes I found; way more (5+ times more) compared to when I went through the same area with another character while playing during the (European) day. The result was that my 2nd character ended up with much more gold, experience (from the chests) and crafting materials than the first.

My point is that personal chests and material nodes make things more fair (anti ninja) and more fun since you actually have something to show for the time you spent exploring.
And it doesn't matter at what time you play, or in other words how crowded it is.
And gold farmer\bot harvesting is still possible, but doesn't affect me directly when I'm playing.
And it doesn't give people with UI mods that show chest\node locations on the map an advantage over people without them. I rather love the sparse UI since it forces you to 'go out and explore' instead of 'go out and follow a fixed path'.

BTW1. I understand that by making the chests\nodes personal people will, compared to the current situation, end up 'wealthier'. But that can be easily countered, for example by making the chests\nodes appear less often (although this lessens the fun factor again), or lowering the (sell) value of the stuff you find.
BTW2. Maybe this sounds like a whine. I do not mean it that way. I just simply and honestly can't understand why the current none-personal design is in place. Other modern games, for example Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3, have personal loot and they have it for a good reason ...

    There are too many of them everywhere and they respawn too quickly. There is no need to make them personal.
    Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

    Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
    Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
    Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
    Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
    Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
    Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
    Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
    Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
    Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
    Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

    It is only an issue in the low level areas where the amount of players (and probably still bots) is much higher than average. As you level further, you will have less and less troubles in collecting crafting materials. In my experience, starting from veteran zones I did not see any competition for such stuff, not even for chests. There is almost nothing useful in the chests at that level, the only reason why I keep opening them now is for the achievement (still several hundreds to go).

    If the system will be changed to introduce private chests or crafting nodes, their number will have to be strongly reduced. Collecting materials will become a pain instead of a joyful walk with multiple nodes in your line of sight at once. Such system would also encourage bots even more than now.

    So far I've only played the three first major areas so I'm willing to believe things even out later on. And I can see that chest might become less and less important when you don't need loot anymore for research or deconstruction.

    And you might very well have a point with your second remark that a (strong) reduction in numbers might lessen the 'casual'-go-out-and-explore experience ... which would be bad for someone like me who happens to love that kind of play style ;).

    But I still don't understand why there seem to be different loot systems for different crafting professions. Provisioning 'nodes' (barrels etc.) and trunks\cabinets\bookcases\whatnot are personal, or at least seem to be ... although maybe I'm just one of the few people who bothers checking them :).
