It could just be a fluke but it has happened a couple of times now so maybe folks can keep an eye out to see if it could be the case.

I think Luminous Ink drop rates might be tied to the day night cycle.

Example I went to farm today and second node I got an ink, after one full lap around my upper Craglorn route (about 40 minutes) I had got about 20 or so inks. After the first few drops I noticed that both moons were out and as soon as the stars were gone it dropped to almost nothing.

Like I said it may be a fluke but it wouldn't be the first time they tied something to the day night cycle in this game.

(I'm putting this here because if it is true then players should seek help before discovering this, if not it will be quicker than me just trying to prove or disprove this on my own. It is also why I didn't put it in the title)

Edit: It would be cool if it were true, I mean when are you more apt to find something luminous, during the day or in the dark of night?

I'm pretty sure it's just a 1% drop rate from any container with loot, be it mobs, backpacks, harvesting nodes, etc. Sometimes you can hit multiple 1%'s in a short period of times and other times you'll go 200-300 without finding one.

Not backpacks or chests right now, they said they will be adding those as new sources.

As far I know it's only resource nodes, trash mobs and some bosses. From my own experience, it's only resource nodes and bosses but others have gotten them from trash mobs.

What they need to do is figure out what's up with the inconsistent drop rate and fix it, but I guess that's too hard for them.

Yep, pretty sure it has been just a couple of flukes. Just did another night run and only 4.

But I'd still offer it up as a suggestion

Not backpacks, heavy sacks will be the additional source besides treasure chets. Backpacks are standard containers that can already drop ink.
