Psijiic Portals in new zone acting like rune stone nodes

I have had a wopping 3 of these found in the new zone and each of them have harvested in the shape of runes- not the usual loot of other zones. Curious if other have noted the same or was this a change for this zone?
...17 toons. I promise..I won't make more....ok I may have an alt problem.

I haven't found any in the new zone yet, but I seem to remember this happening when Necrom was released too.

It's hard to know for sure if they're bugged though... because another possibility is that people are looting them but leaving the junk behind.

I think this issue has been around since the start of Blackwood. It seems to be a common new chapter bug just like world bosses that don’t respawn and don’t count towards achievments.

I want to say that I harvested a Psijic Portal in West Weald the other night and got a piece of zone gear, but I can't swear it.

Pretty sure I've found some with gear, some without. My assumption has been that it's a player behavior issue, although I suppose it could be a bug.

Yeah, I think there are some players who just enjoy being deliberately ornery and inconsiderate toward everyone else when it comes to selectively looting the contents of treasure chests, Psijic portals, resource nodes, etc., and leaving trash behind for the next person to find. You can't change their behavior, so the best thing you can do is loot whatever's left and then move on. What goes around comes around, so they'll eventually be on the receiving end, and then they'll be the ones complaining about partially-looted stuff.

I came across one today. Yup. Same thing with me. Just runes.

I guess other players could be picking out the goodies but it would be easier to loot the whole thing than to make sure you only leave the runestones.

Is anyone getting [pulverized] aurbic amber from the psijic portals in West Weald? That's the really valuable resource, since it only drops from these portals, and the drop rate is low, so accumulating aurbic amber takes a lot of effort.

Maybe someone is glancing at the contents with a character without the Psijic skill line? If Character A goes to loot, for example, an ore node with a low level character - say the highest ore type they can get is steel - then don’t actually loot it for some reason, then Character B comes up and loots it they will get steel from the node even if they’re max level and crafting with Rubedite. I don’t see why it would be different for Enchanting nodes.

The question is, if an Enchanting resource location spawns as a Psijic Portal, will players who don't have the Psijic Order skill line see it as a Runestone, or will they not see anything at all? The other type of location that can spawn as either node type A or node type B is a Blacksmithing resource location, which can spawn as either a Blacksmithing ore node or a Jewelry seam, but it isn't one or the other depending on whether a player has Jewelry crafting or not, so why shouldn't Enchanting resource locations spawn as a fixed "A or B" node type rather than as something that could be A or B depending on whether a player has a certain skill line?

Why would it spawn as nothing at all? They have the coding to make it appear as different things to different characters, they’ve been able to do that since they swapped the resources to match level and crafting skill rather than zone.

And jewelry nodes aren’t fixed, they’re ore nodes coded to sometimes spawn as jewelry and sometimes spawn as ore, that’s why ZOS added a small chance to drop jewelry mats even on the ore nodes - when the system first came out, most people were only looting the jewelry nodes, which then respawned as ore that no one touched, meaning there were no new jewelry nodes.

People without the Psijic line cannot see the Psijic Portals at all and see nothing in their place. My friends and partner have confirmed this when I’ve found one and they’ve been on characters without the skill line.

With other nodes also, whatever that node is chosen to be, everyone will get the same thing. One player will not see a jewelry node where another sees a blacksmithing node. And when the node rolls for being level based or crafting rank based, it is that way for everyone. So if I’m on a max level rank 1 crafter, and my partner is on a max level rank 9 crafter, every node is either max tier for both of us or it’s rank 1 for me and rank 9 for her. It’s never level based for one person but crafting rank based for someone else.

Just found a Psijic Portal in West Weald. This is my first on live. On PTS I found one without a set piece, and I reported it as a potential bug. This one on live was also missing its set piece. While it is possible that someone has been looting only the set pieces, it's also possible they coded the set piece as a chance rather than the guarantee it should be.

You can tell it's definitely not a runestone node, since it dropped 5x Itade. Regular runestone nodes only have a 1/3 chance to drop a potency runestone, and you can get two of them if Plentiful Harvest procs. You can never get 5 from a regular runestone node, and you can never get just 1 or 2 from a Psijic Portal.

Not yet. I’ll keep an eye out! So far my rate for that’s about 25% overall, but I’ve only found the two portals in West Weald so far. I’ll let you know if I see any.

No, it definitely isn't in my experience.

From what I've seen, Psijic Portals are meant to guarantee:

-1 Aspect Runestone better than Ta
-1 Essence Runestone (which may be Hakeijo, in any zone - I've found it in Khenarthi's Roost and Blackwood and other places)
-5x a chosen Potency Runestone (which matches either your character's level or your character's investment in Potency Improvement)
-1 overland set piece from that zone - usually blue, but occasionally purple

There is a chance to get:

    -1 Psijic Ambrosia
    -1 motif from that zone
-1 Infused item: a Pulverized Aurbic Amber or whole Aurbic Amber or an Exemplary Infused Necklace or an Exemplary Infused Ring

Pulverized Aurbic Amber is not guaranteed (my rate is 25%), but it's more common than whole, as stated in Summerset's original patch notes: "You can also obtain the Trait Material, Aurbic Amber, or its raw form, Pulverized Aurbic Amber, from Psijic Portals. The pre-refined form is much rarer than the raw form."

The "can...obtain" also implies to me it's meant to be a chance.

I am not 100% certain that all the infused items are mutually exclusive, but that seems to be the case so far.

Plentiful Harvest doesn't work on anything in the portals.
