How can I get to COLDHARBOUR?

Hi I've been playing ESO since and including the BETA. I have several characters and have played the underlying game with three or four of my characters. I've bought every new update when it is launched. My latest character is a VampArcanist. But I am not now playing the underlying game from start to finish. I'm just dipping in and out of the main frame story, when I get suckered in. The rest of the time I'm just drifting and helping others from time to time. But I do play the story line of each new add on.

But with my latest character, I'm starting to get a bit bored, while waiting for the latest updates and because it's been sometime since I've been to Coldharbour, I thought I'd check it out. Oddly though, although I can go to all the other add on locations, without a problem. Coldharbour is alluding me. Even though I can go there and checkout properties for sale, none of the way shrines are lit up. So, how do I get there?

Coldharbour is a location that becomes accessible to the solo player as part of the main quests from the Harborage. You'll need to also be Level 45 I believe in order to unlock the quests that allow you to get there "the intended way".

Or, just ask someone in zone for a teleport.

Best bet, if not doing the main quest, is to travel to someone. Can be any guild mate in Coldharbour or someone willing to group or friend with you and go there so you can travel.

I travelled several times to members of my guilds, whenever I spotted they were there and I unlocked loads of wayshrines. But I was wandering around for ages when I got a lead in coldharbour because I couldn't reach the area I needed. Luckily another guild member was in the right area the next day.

You'll also need to teleport to someone if you want to access the northern half of Coldharbour, which is normally blocked off until you complete a certain part of the Coldharbour zone story. I recommend asking someone to go to the Manor of Revelry Wayshrine and then teleporting to them. A few months ago, when I tried to get my newest character to northern Coldharbour via traveling to players at wayshrines for The Orchard, Reaver Citadel, etc., it kept putting that character at The Chasm Wayshrine instead, which is useless for accessing northern Coldharbour if you're not questing. This never happened to me before (I make a new character with each Chapter release and get them all the wayshrines I can). So I've no idea if it was a deliberate or permanent change or not. I finally got where I needed to be via the Manor of Revelry Wayshrine.

BTW...if you want the skyshard in The Chasm while you're exploring, travel to The Orchard Wayshrine and pass through that big closed door to the right of it to access the relevant part of the map.

The Level 45 requirement disappeared with the release of One Tamriel in..... 2017?

If you're just looking for access to Coldharbour just teleport to an online friend or guildmate who's in the zone currently, or ask someone in your current Zone or guild(s) to taxi you there. If they're not a Friend or Guildmate you will need to group with them (otherwise, just right-click their name from the Friend's list, or your Guilds' Roster, select "Travel to Player").

Definitely recommend doing your Alliance storyline quests and the Main quest as it gets you a fair number of skill points per Zone you complete (usually 3 or so per Zone as quest rewards) as a "long term" plan. Both the Coldharbour zone story quests and side quests will open things up for certain areas in Coldharbour without getting "taxied" to them. It will be the Main questline that will unlock the last couple of Wayshrines.
PC NA Yes, I use add-ons.

Fighters Guild story line will also give you access to Coldharbour from FG houses when you get to that point in MQ FG story, From there you will find a portal to CH and a portal in CH back to Tamriel.

Iirc you can now pick up the quest "Messages across Tamriel" which gives you access to the Coldharbour story line from an NPC in a Mages Guild, without having to do your Alliances main story.

Again iirc the guy's name is Vanus Galerion, I found him in Daggerfall Mages Guild so he might just be in the Main Cities guld houses.

I believe there can also be more than one version of him present too, the delights of an older game with lots of changes over the years, so you have to pick the right version!

Edit:- Did a quick search, he should be in your Alliances Capital City Mages Guild + the starter city too I think. 🙂

Edit 2:- You need to have completed the Harborage Quest line up to and including the Council of the Five Companions for Vanus to be in Mages Guild to offer Messages Across Tamriel.

Ah my mistake, honestly it's been that long since I did the main quest, and when I did it was always at CP level, lol, so this wouldn't have applied to me anyway. Thanks for pointing that out.

Your best bet for accessing the northern part reliably is have the person you're teleporting to enter the delve Mal Sorra's Tomb, south-west of the Orchard wayshrine, and then simply walk out and pick up the rest of the shrines on foot.

"natural way": complete the harborage quests, during the 5th one you get sent to coldharbour (the 6th one is the final one after you clear the zone of coldharbour)

Buy the Coldharbour Surreal Estate and you can port to the home on any character. You should be able to purchase it with Gold if you have completed the main quest at least once and have unlocked the God of Schemes achievement.

    Hi Everyone

Thanks for responding, I usually get sent an email when anyone responds to one of my question. But for some unknown reason, this time I've heard nothing. I'm only here today because of the following updates.

    TybaltKaine

Well as for buying the property in Coldharbour. Because you can teleport to a property in any country, you haven't been to, for a look around. But, because you haven't opened a way shrine then you can't, go outside of that property. So my assumption was even If I were to buy that property. It wouldn't let me go outside.

However, since my last visit to this search I visited the Harbourage and did a couple of missions for Varen after a couple of hours I was in Coldharbour. And very spooky it is too! Because apart from me, I've only seen 3 other players here and very few of the properties seem to be accessible. Because I have to bring all the lost people back to Coldharbour. I'd totally forgot about that. Still, it's such a long time since I last did it, it'll be like the first time.

While we're chatting, I have another question. When I start a new character my previous character's stats are usually all cleared and so I'm starting fresh, as it were. But this time, with my latest character they haven't been cleared and so everywhere I go the stats are those of my last character ie all the delves etc have been done. But when I enter them I can still get the skyshards?

You guys just made me want to go thru the Cold Harbor story line, but this time, making ZERO friends. Altho, I'm not sure that is entirely possible. I think with the wood elves vs snake ladies, then you gotta pick one side or another. But still. I want to go thru that story line again and be a big jerk.

Which reminds me, back in the day before Elswhyr chapter, I had one toon that chose to kill the half giant lady instead of the old blind man. But then, bang, she shows up anyway later. Ah, well.

if you own the house, and exit the house normally, it puts you into that zone

if your "previewing" the house and use the normal house exit, it puts you back to where to ported into the house from if you did not use the normal entrance

    Hi soelslaev

Each time I've played the main storyline so far I've chosen the Prophet as the one that should go. But this time I'm thinking about choosing someone else. Maybe the sarcastic one, that we rescued from Manimarco.

But doesn't the storyline pan out differently depending on who you choose. From what you are saying, it doesn't sound like it makes any difference?

I know at the end you get two choices to select one from. One being that you remain the hero. And the other being, no-one knows who you are.

you cant choose abnur tharn as a sacrifice lol

you can only choose between the prophet, lyris titanborn, or sai sahan

the main difference between who is sacrificed is some dialog options
if you choose to sacrifice lyris titanborn, she still shows up and is present in the western skyrim/reach storyline and has some additional dialog about how she was alive again

same thing goes for sai sahan and the north/south elsweyr storyline

    for further details:
lore-wise/canonically the prophet is the one that is sacrificed "officially", allowing you to choose does give you a little choice as a player though, and they kind of make that more obvious when they bring sai sahan and lyris "back to life" if you chose to sacrifice them

after you finish the harborage line the way the OG storyline worked is you are still considered a hero of your current faction and savior of tamriel, but you are given the opportunity to experience the other alliances stories, so when your in the other faction zones they will see you as a normal person, not an enemy

from the game perspective, this makes it so you can do all factions content on 1 character instead of being locked out of anything
