[Help Requested] Consistent Inability to Login to ESO

Hello, forum dwellers.

I have to admit I'm at my wit's end with a problem I've been facing for several days now. With several failed attempts at troubleshooting the issue myself, and support not responding after nearly two days now, I'm turning to the forums with the hope that someone might know how to work around the problem.

For the past two days, I have been unable to successfully log into ESO. Every single attempt has ended with more or less the same result: I enter my account password, press Enter, watch the small ouroboros in the bottom-right corner of the loading screen spin in circles for roughly 1-2 minutes before it freezes and the program enters "not responding" mode indefinitely.

Before contacting support, I followed all of the troubleshooting steps they provided in their little "before you contact us" section, to no avail - nothing suggested there works. Normally, I wouldn't care and would just keep waiting to see if the issue resolves itself, but as we all know, we're currently seeing the final days of the Anniversary Jubilee event (which seems to have received a slightly extended deadline) and I still have a Staff of Worms replica, Ul'Vor staff replica, and confetti-farting horse to collect before then - window of opportunity closing and all that.

IF ZOS would be kind enough to simply gift pages for these two staves and the remaining... four(?) confetti packages I need, that would be stellar! However, I'm not very optimistic of such a thing happening, so if anyone could offer advice on what to do here, I'd greatly appreciate it.

it sounds like your not even making it to the character selection after logging in

one of my laptops has a super slow storage drive, so sometimes i get kicked back to the login screen before it even makes it to the character selection due to how long it took to load

other things to check too would be to make sure the game does not have uncapped FPS, because it can cause problems on load screens

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

You're right on the first part: I'm not making it to the character selection screen - I found a thread on the ESO forum covering the same issue, but I could not find the post date, so I can't be sure if the issue is the same as mine or a separate one altogether.

As for a "slow storage drive", I'm not sure what qualifies. When I look at my storage "meter" in the "My PC" folder, it's always in the red; however, I can still have quite a few gigabytes still available in spite of the red coloration - as an example, I have ~74gb of free space right now. This has never proved itself an issue before, though, as I've had much smaller quantities of gigabytes available before without problem.

I recently checked settings and found that I did have a capped FPS of 30 when the game was minimized, but I'm not sure what the game's cap is while maximized or if it's currently unlimited - I will have to look into that.

"slow storage drive" is more reference to the read/write speed of the drive itself, not how much you have stored on it

access speed of a drive significantly impacts loading times

on my primary gaming desktop, the game is installed on an NVMe SSD drive, and my load screens are rarely longer than 10 seconds (most are shorter than that)

the laptop i had mentioned has a REALLY slow drive, like when its applying updated it has a read/write speed of like 15 mb/s which is really slow for a drive (i have seriously considered just replacing this drive, as the rest of the laptop is still running fine)

edit: when a drive is showing red bar on your file explorer, that means its almost full, i think usually 90 or 95% capacity is when it starts showing as red

15 mb/s for read/write on a HD is incredibly slow nowadays lol

my SSDs ive seen between 40 and 70 mb/s read/write speeds lol

if you only have read/write speeds of like 140 kb/s that drive has got to be like 25 years old and i dont know how its still alive lol

Don't ask me; this computer was a gift, so maybe he was just gonna toss it and decided to give it to me instead.

It's worked well enough, though... for the most part.
