Tannins, Resins, and Tempers. Where do they come from?

With the changes to Hirelings coming, I would like to know where we get tannins, resins, and tempers from in game. Besides hirelings, what is the primary source of these items? If they come from deconstructing gear, where do we get legendary gear for the legendary upgrade materials? Thanks for the help!!
edit: I'm not saying hirelings were the primary source, I'm just asking where we get them from if you take hirelings out of the equation!

Until now my primary source for collecting those rare purple and gold upgrade items was refining raw material. For me it was much more efficient than relying on hirelings (which are a nice bonus of course).

    Don't listen to that guy...

So a mommy tannin and a daddy tannin who love each other a whooooole bunch, get together and add some dwarvin oil to the mix to create little rosins. Those little rosins then grow up and meet a strapping turpin, they use liberal amounts of dreugh wax and the result are a bunch of baby mastics.

And that is where upgrade components come from...now go to bed.

Refining, deconstructing and hirelings are pretty much it.

The change is to the mats dropped, they will be level appropriate to the character who owns the hireling.

The upgrade materials should be unaffected.

    1 - Deconstructing similar items.

    2 - Hirlings

    3 - Refining materials

4 - Purchase from other players

    This.

I treat hirelings as a bonus, not as my main source.
