healer choices, and companions best suited to guide a healer

So I have played nothing but DPS my entire time in ESO. I decided I wanted to try a healer.
I don't know where to look for class choices for healers.
what class choices are there for healers, and what are the pros and cons?

what companion and type of companion goes good with a healer? tank or dps?

and are there any good addons for healers?

also what are some basics and tips for a new healer?

Healer is miserable in pve overland. Reason to play a healer is so you get a faster queue into dungeons, if you are doing them.
Warden is a strong healing class with lots of group buffs. You cant use companions when team is full in dungeons, but otherwise you will need dd and tank companions.
Dungeons mostly require buffs from a healer, not healing. Very easy healer setup is spell power cure plus powerful assault.

These days you don’t “play a healer”, but have a healer build saved in your Armory Station. For solo play, you would have one build, and for group activities, switch to the other healer one. Since you can now have your stats, skill selections, etc, stored as part of the build, it’s almost like having an alt character, but with the skill points and levels already earned.

Healers Haven discord is the best ressource for anything Healing related in ESO.

Note that Healing in ESO can be quite different from Healing in other MMOs.

Healers are basically only needed in endgame. I would go so far as saying they are only truly needed in veteran DLC group content or in large PvP groups.

Companions, on the other hand, are basically just for role-playing. They don't work in the above content, not in any role.

That said, if you play normal dungeons, just play as you like. Advice about races, classes, armor sets, playstyles, and so on, is not very relevant to that. However maybe you'll like this YouTuber, who has experimented with a lot of companion builds:

Healers are fun!

I've heard Templar and Warden are the classic Healing choices that are a good choice when in doubt. I've thought of making them myself, though I am rocking with an interesting Necromancer healer! Necro's Ultimate that allows instant res is a life saver when it comes to trials and dungeons, though people could argue that a Necro tank could second slot that ulti on back.

Companions aren't often used for dungeons but totally can! If solo-ing PVE Content as a Healer though, I recommend Having a DPS companion to speed up the process unless you have one slotted DPS-like ability

--- or If doing World bosses, Have a Tank companion and just have a DPS ability slotted for you to use while it distracts the boss.

Isobel is a great Tank and Sharp-as-Night is a great DPS!
