Mythic Item Idea - Guardsman Item

Weapon
Two-Handed
Procs most Ice Staff and Shield passives.
Can cast Ice Staff and Shield abilities.
Deals physical melee damage within 7-8 meters, and frost/magic damage beyond that.
Fully charged heavy attacks proc Ice Staff Damage Shield, and the resource restore is evenly split between mag and stam, boosting to the other when one is full.
Block cost is evenly split between mag and stam.
May be able to cast Power Bash by heavy attacking while blocking. May proc Ice Damage Shield. May count Power Bash as slotted at all times. Costs Power Bash and has Power Bash's effects. Partial Cast either casts or cancels, and does not proc Damage Shield.

Cannot Equip while wearing another Mythic armor or jewelry.
Disables equipping other Mythic Armor or Jewelry while equipped.

Has two slots for traits and enchants.
One is always weapon. The other can be either weapon or Armor (shield).
Spawns with
Slot 1: Defending, Oblivion Enchant
Slot 2: Reinforced, Prismatic Defense Enchantment

The trait determines the enchantment type for that slot.
Weapon Traits must be learned on ALL one handed weapons AND Ice Staff in order to Transmute.

For Slot 2, if it is Weapon you have bonus damage, as if wielding a two handed weapon or dual wield, but if shield then you gain armor bonus, like wielding a shield. The nirnhoned/reinforced will modify the bonus damage/armor likewise.

If both slots are identical, it is like wielding a two handed weapon. If both are weapon but are not identical, it is more like dual wield. If one is weapon and the other shield, it is like one and shield. For the effectiveness of traits and enchantments.

Style starts as sword and shield, but can outfit as any one and shield or as Ice Staff.

May have other effects, bonuses, or penalties associated with it.

May inflict Major and Minor breach when you attack, or have a chance to. May grant or have a chance to grant you Minor Resolve when you attack. May require Punture. May be limited to Puncture's effects. May cost Puncture. May be restricted to melee range.

When you block, you have a chance to reflect incoming projectiles at no cost. Requires Spell Wall purchased.
When you block a ranged projectile, you have a chance to auto cast Defensive Posture/Stance / Absorb Missile, granting you a damage shield and either reflecting or absorbing the projectile, based on morph status. Requires the base version of Stance purchased in order for auto cast to work.

With Shield Discipline purchased, weapon abilities cast have a chance to be cast at no cost. May effect only shield abilities.
Also, any auto casts have a great chance if not guaranteed to be free or reduced cost with Shield Discipline purchased, greater chance if not guaranteed when slotted.
    Power Bash: reduced.
    Stance: free.
Puncture: free, status effects only. Reduced cost if also deals the extra ability damage.

Chances and cost reductions are doubled when the ability is slotted.

Next reply I make should be about Ice Staff abilities, like weakness to magic.

Weakness to elements allows a chance to apply Major Breach at range, along with any additional effects from the morph you choose.

When you bash, you have a chance to auto cast Ice Wall, you also have a chance to auto cast Frost Pulsar. Because of the nature of these chances, there is also a chance that both can activate at the same time.

When you attack a ranged opponent, you have a chance to auto cast Force Shock, and an even greater chance on heavy attacks. This chance is almost guaranteed when they are casting an inturruptable ability.

When blocking with enough ultimate and surrounded by 5 or more foes in close proximity, you have a chance to auto cast Elemental Storm at your feet.

You have a chance to cast Destructive Touch on a fully charged heavy attack.

These abilities require to be purchased in order to activate, and are altered when morphed.
They will most likely be full cost, and therefore may not activate when below half magicka.
Due to the nature of this weapon, they may have reduced or free cost with Shield Discipline purchased or slotted, and may even allow it to effect them when active.
Abilities have a greater chance to cast when slotted.

When you light attack in melee range, you have a chance to cast Low Slash.
When you cast a fully charged Heavy attack at range, you have a chance to cancel any other abilities you are casting and instead cast Shield Charge. Still casts heavy attack though.

Every time I said Disciplined Wall, I meant Shield Discipline. That morph of Shield Wall.

I think that covers all the abilities...

If I didn't say it before, having purchased Shield Wall grants a chance to block at no cost.

When abilities are slotted their effects have a greater chance to occur, or greater chance to auto cast.

    it's a two handed weapon?
but we don't have weapon mythics and mythics are one item, two handed weapons(melee, bow , and staff) take the place of two items.

would all this post be the item description? because that is uh a lot

It functions as a cross between One Hand and Shield, and Ice Staff.
It procs most of the passives.
It is evenly split between mag and stam for blocking and heavy restore.
It can cast both trees abilities.
And Adds purchased and slotted effects for all the abilities associated with it, allowing you to use most of the abilities without needing them to be slotted.
That's pretty much the TL;DR description.

nope, it's an Idea, something I'd like

Balancing issues would probably have this weapon come with a lot of penalties too, like Cannot weapon swap or something.

The specifics aside, I think a tank 2h would be an awesome concept. The built in proc chances to cast abilities seem far too strong though.

You could even expand this for each weapon type, to make a hybrid for every combination (bow may be difficult to reason tho). Should be penalized enough in terms of opportunity cost, but accessing more abilities is always cool.

Ice Staff IS part tank, that's why I selected it.
While wielding Ice Staff, you block 20% more, block for 36% cheaper, block using magicka not stamina, and fully charged heavy attacks grant you damage shields. If you have spent the points in those respective passives of Destruction Staff line.

This weapon is a merging of both mag and stam tanks into one tool.
Mag Tank, Ice Staff. Stam Tank, Shield.

Aka Tank 2 handed already exists, it's the Ice Staff.

As for other hybrid weapons, I highly doubt any would be made, but Bow+Daggers seems like a combination.
Ice+Shield seems way more likely though.
Ice+Resto would be fun too. Would add slight tank ability to the healer role, or better healing to the tanker role.

Ah I misunderstood then. I thought you were describing a twohander (like greatsword) that has access to ice staff abilities.

Woah, interesting idea. Take away almost everything and just leave it as an ice staff mythic whose effect is it counts as one-handed and shield (in addition to staves) for that skill line's abilities and passives. Make it so while wielding it, one handed and shield skills cost magicka (or still health for skills that cost health). Maybe add in it counts as one piece towards any one five-piece set you're wearing. It would be an interesting test case, and could be expanded into other staves. A flame staff that can use 2-handed skills, and a lightning staff that can use dual wielding skills, all scaling with mag. Would be neat

I like the idea of a "Wax Knife" mythic that looks like a one handed weapon but can slot any weapon skills and uses the passives for the line with the most skills slotted on the bar, defaulting to 2h passives and using sword bonuses for 2h and dw.

I mean aren't arena weapons just "Mythics" in a sense? You can wear both a mythic and an arena weapon, but unless the weapon can proc exclusively on the backbar (which the best ones can, to be fair), then you can't use both if you want two 5-piece sets. This, and other weapons unrelated to this, would just be arena weapons that can't be used with another mythic.

They could even still be arena weapons, just that you need to get the leads from arena drops rather than the weapon specifically. Like you get normal leads from the normal arenas, and perfected leads from hard arenas.

@merpins I agree they are a mythic in that sense, but the conditions under which you have to go through to get them are different. We can debate which is worse, grinding Maelstrom to get the 2H or grinding a world boss to get a lead for the Velothi Amulet, but the former requires the completion of the arena to get the weapon. There are notable exceptions, like DSA for Master's Daggers and DSA for the Death Dealer's Fete lead, but for the most part arena weapons require completion of combat where mythics are predominately an RNG treasure hunt and trial of one's patience.

If there were ever to be a mythic weapon, I would hope that it would require completing veteran arenas and not picking flowers by streams in Shadowfen. I actually like your perfected vs. normal distinction. Because, as you pointed out, it would need to be a strong weapon in order to forego the other mythic options. As such, under no circumstance should it be as silly or simple as getting the Kilt.

Why make a 2pc mythic when it can just be a mythic shield (EG: Spellbreak, though in this case the shield would be more of a foci that casts the ice staff skills) and the 1H is just whatever?

I mean, that's an interesting direction. But should a mythic just augment the ult or change the approach for a given weapon-set.
