YES. I would have voted the top choice, that being the craftable additives, except for the PvP blurb in there. DO NOT lock player housing behind having to PvP and/or being in a guild. It should be available to everyone, not just those who want to PvP or be in a guild.
Yes, we should be able to furnish/build our own houses.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I would enjoy having a house to work on when my day is done for questing and crafting. It does make you feel more immersed in the world to have a place to go home to. I think containers in the house would be a must in keeping with traditional Elder Scrolls games and I would understand if the initial price of the house was expensive to compensate for that. I'd also like it to be instanced and only available to other players if I invite them. The other alternative I would enjoy is a guild hall, kind of like the Companions had in Skyrim where my guildies and I could kick back and socialize, duel, and maybe some crafting.

The absolute BEST housing system was in now gone Star Wars Galaxies, only game which has come close to it and retains the best housing system of all current MMO's is EQ2. It lacks the option of choosing own house style as per-existing models are used (unlike in SWG) and you're also limited to specific locations (unlike in SWG, which means no player cities) but on the inside, everything is so far very good. You don't have some silly "hooks" which per-determine the location of any and all items you can place, instead houses have item limit (which can also be upgraded, to a point) and you can place items anywhere (though some items may go to a specific general area like paintings on walls, etc, though that can also be adjusted with specific tools). House items can be crafted with Carpentry (so woodworking would work well, with some additions from smithing and cloth making, some alchemy and enchantment things for "bling" and "shiny" things perhaps), many quests also give unique looking house items as rewards, or trophies what can be added.

I'd say that the Hearthfire system as it was used in Skyrim would work well, just that don't add "hooks" or "spots" or some such fixed item locations nonsense, rather give different max item limit per different house type/size and let players place anything anywhere, as they want. And make so that items used in the game can also be used as decorations, for example if I want to add my first weapon or first ever self made armor set on some stand or plaque, it should be possible.

I couldn't agree more SWG was amazing the first year.

My personal favorite housing style is Rift's where it is literally whatever you want but to be honest I don't see that working in ESO. It just takes way too much time and the areas you choose are very bland and common, it doesn't seem special. I love player cities, like in Darkfall where you choose and upgrade buildings as you see fit literally building your city from ground up or having other clans destroy it. I just really wish I had some cottage in the middle of nowhere I could go and relax in.

I didn't mean it like you had to PvP for it but maybe with Alliance Points you could buy oh I don't know, banners to show rank or flags of your faction. Stuff to show your conquests as a veteran of the ever going war.

Yes, should be very crafting instensive and you could have a quest or something to unlock the right to place a house or have an instanced type Rift zone. There are a lot of cool things they could do, your own house, cave, ship, etc.

I would love to see an Everquest 2 type of housing. Instanced inn rooms to mansions in cities with total control over placement sizing etc of furniture. We could also craft etc in our house and the guild halls were impressive and huge. Carpenter class was awesome in making furniture and quests were sometimes giving housing rewards (collections too). Also, let me put my trophies on the walls instead of them gathering dust in the bank.

For me housing is part of Elder Scrolls, I don't see ESO growing up without adding that feature, it would just be wrong. Housing is not only for RPers trying to flee the trolls, it's great for quiet group/guild meetings and show off your trophies to your friends after adventuring when you need to just relax and chat.

Honestly, I can go either way. Would it be nice to have something to buy with all the gold you accumulate? Yes. Does it bother me that there is none right now? Nope.

Even in the single player games, I bought the house, but I only ever went there as a place to store the stuff I didn't want to lug around. We have a bank to serve that purpose.

Can't say I would ever use my 'home' if the game had it anyway.

Of course yes. Housing would give players new layers of customization, immersion and attachment to their characters and roles. This is beneficial for both users and developers/publisher. If they do not get right on it either they are insane or victim of harsh technical difficulties. I voted the second option but I am perfectly fine with the first one too.

No - I don't want to play the Sims
I personally hate the concept of player housing. I find it absolutely pointless and a total waste of time. Having said that, I dont mind if they add it in way down the line once they fix all the broken code in the game and continually release content as they promised. If they can hold true to the promises they made, and still have time to create player housing, then by all means, let the players who want to play house do so.

I don't know if anybody already suggested this. But this issue was one where I was aware of what the devs said about it, and I think there is a workable solution using another game's mechanic.

Player housing can be really horrible for many games, (immersion breaking, cluttering/ruining landscapes) so I generally don't really think placing player housing in zones would work. However, it is a large world and there are many established Islands. Since this is the EP forum I think my solution would work well for us. Assuming the devs don't simply make all of Vvardenfell accessible. Players/guilds could establish housing on the Island, you could use a dock location to take a boat and it would basically put you in an instance where your house/guildhall existed. You could choose locations (vvardenell, solstheim, some deep swamp in black marsh) that would fit the 3 main races of your faction and this would influence the architecture and surrounding environment. The only tricky part would be permission, but friend list and an additional guild permission should take care of it. By doing it in a private instance you could reduce any server strain and also not break immersion. It would be a great place for guilds to socialize and for players to show of houses or set up private stores with vendor npcs. I sort of imagine it being a larger property concept like in TES3 Morrowind where you build up an estate and maybe even have harvest points (like choosing a mine, Field or forest to be near the house so you could get crafting materials). But also have the customization of TES5 Skyrim.

I think it is completely implementable and could add to the games longevity, especially if building a large structure like a guild hall could require use of crafting skills or (simply to be faster) PvP holdings. they could funnel crafting supplies (logs) or gold for construction.

    Just my thoughts.
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
