I've seen this topic many times before, so I agree.
The game needs a toggle to hide the side and waistline accessories(flaps). Also more armor that resembles normal looking shirts and pants.

I can hear it now
'We still don't have X...but hey thanks for hiding our crotch flaps!"
Yeah bad idea...

Thats what costumes are for.
I'd rather not turn this COMPLETELY into ffxiv fashion, though more skimpy stuff would be nice

How would the option to hide crotch and hip flaps turn outfits into that? Most of the time they are completely pointless "decoration" that ruins many outfits, constantly clipping into the characters legs, arms, hands, and other pieces of armour and weapons. Also makes it difficult to mix styles.

I however wonder if this is somewhat related to the one hand weapons...

My comment was about the plain stuff. Ffxiv is full of store bought and crafted casual wear. Night gowns and fuzzy slippers to sweats, goodies and the glory that is the 2b legs, which is just a pair of panties and thigh high stockings. And yes, I have stilettos to match.
As much as I like say, those legs plus hempen camise on female highlanders, I don't want it in eso.
The combo looks like it belongs on a dominatrix.

No one is asking for any of that, though. We just want to hide the tassets like the hip and crotch flaps on our existing styles.
I also want more styles that is casual clothing, but then of course it shall be Tamriel casual clothing. Hence why I was very annoyed by the flaps ruining the Dead Keeper light. They'd work excellent as dunmer clothes.
Remember when we couldn't hide floating shoulders? Now we can after all these years
I hope they remove floating hip flaps as well along with crotch ones. So many good motifs ruined because of it.

Not the same thing. When you hide the shoulder piece you are hiding the entire piece. What is being asked for is removing just a part of the chest piece. That means a complete redesign of the piece to get rid of the flap. Would mean every chest piece with the flap would need to have two different versions. One with flap and one without.

They don't, they are clearly seperate items, because argonians and khajiit automatically have the back flap removed for their tails, and a lot of npcs can be seen with "flapless" versions of styles.
There was also a "Hide tassets" once found hidden in some files.
They were designed with those Argonians and Khajiit in mind with the missing back side. Basically two separate armors with the same name kind of like some hair designs are race specific. The front flaps are a part of the armor. Some people like the flaps so to remove the flaps they would have to create a new armor piece without the flap. By having a set with and a set without that keeps/makes people happy but it does mean going back and doing redesigns on those armor pieces.
