Hard breaks v Soft breaks

I have learned that I can cause an immediate concede by breaking out of a hard screen, ie, The bank by pressing ESC or ALT. When you find yourself in a hard screen and your game pops simply switch to a soft screen, ie, Inventory that you can simply walk out of without the concede...

hmmmm I didn't think it generated a "concede" when it occurs, always thought it just automatically declined the game.
